Will DU turn against Kerry if he loses? Gore sure has been beat up.......
(verbally) because he lost. If Gore had won, we would all be shouting hosanna from the roof top, but he lost - so he is vilified by a lot of us.

Will the same lambasting happen to Kerry if he loses?

I hope, wish, pray that I never find out, because Kerry will win - big time.

1. Naw, the RW had WJC to beat up on, the Dems have Nader.
Every party has their convenient punching bag.

2. I want Kerry to win in a mammoth landslide, but ...
... he's far from perfect. So I assume he'll get criticized for many things -- as he should be.

If he gets a pass on everything, then we are no better than * lovers who refuse to believe the Chimp could do anything wrong.

3. Whew! I'm glad you threw that...
...parenthesised 'verbally' in there, I thought you meant line up like the old "Airplane" movie, for a second.
And to answer your question. Yes. Hell he's getting critized now for any little thing.

4. Except those "draft Gore" people
I see Gore as a tragic hero, as I do Dukakis, Mondale, Humphrey and others. Sure I would like to have seen Gore fight a little more, but a lot of people that should have been fighting with him gave up easily and let bygones be bygones before they had gone by. When your allies jump ship, what are you to do?

5. This isn't a real question - people ALWAYS turn on a loser
People here are ALREADY turning on Kerry and it is pissing me off. Stupid whiners who can't fight a fight when the odds are slightly against you.

6. I would bet that, in the event of a Kerry loss, the party...
...would disintegrate into two very angry factions, and that DU would also disintegrate similarly. GD2004 (during the primaries) was a harbinger of things to come, if Kerry indeed loses... :(

8. well, disintegrate is a VERY negative outlook - coalesce should be

11. Were you here during the primaries?
The board split after Dean lost Iowa, and many (including MANY long-time DUers) left DU (many of those are back, fortunately).

Ironic that you would chastise me by saying my opinion is "stupid" and "fucking negative."

:eyes:

Whatever...

9. Gore actually did win.
But he really underestimated the evil lying within the Bush cartel. He tried to play fair during the recount, and got outsmarted, badly. He was lambasted for not recognizing that Bushco would, and did, do ANYTHING to win.

10. Gore won
But he conceded. THis after he promised to fight for us. Well. He didn't fight. He conceded. Look what has happened. I like Al Gore but he let me down by giving up. I am convinced this is the real reason he didn't run again. He knew that we know that. Kerry is fighting, IMHO. I suspect there will be even more corruption at the polls this time. We may see 2 or more Floridas. I hope JFK will fight through it and never concede if he's won.

12. That's an interesting thought. Wonder what would have happened if he had
NEVER given a concession speech. Because the Supreme Court said so, Smirk and Snarl would still be in the White House, but I wonder how no concession speech would have affected things.

13. I don't know
that * would be sitting in the WH now if Gore refused to accept an illegal ruling. We would have had a constitutional crisis. Look, He won the popular vote and the Florida vote was within .001 % or something? AND the highest coury in the land woudln't allow recounts? Recounts would have proven a winner. No recounts allowed. I think the Supreme Court of the U.S. violated the very foundation of justice with their ruling. They showed no respect for common sense and showed a complete lack of regard for the voters. When the rule of law becomes a laughable, Kangaroo Court, then the fabric of society breaks down. The Fascists won on that day and since then, the sham is more and more blatent. To be fair, not only did Gore roll over but so did we, the AMerican people for allowing this coup to happen. We all rolled over. Super bowl season was happening. No. We need to restore law and order in this country. That will only hppen when we begin by fairly electing a new president.

15. I'm against Bush, not for Kerry.
While I see no need to beat up on the man if he loses, his politics are not my politics, and I have no problem saying so.

16. The same people that beat up on Gore, gave us Mr. Electable
as a candidate. At this point I just pray that THEY are in the position of saying "I told you so". If he loses, well, you know...

17. It depends. most will turn against him if he continues campaigning...
...like he doesn't REALLY want to win. However, hif he gets his shit together and really fights for it these next two months and it's still not quite enough, he'll be forgiven.

But I'd rather not entertain the thought. At this point I just have to hope he has "something up his sleeve".

18. Of course, because the right wing media will tell them he ran a bad
campaign and they will parrot it just like a ditto head. It has already been happening. They buy whatever the RW media tells them even though they know what this media does. Kerry can bring 15000 people to a rally and they still parrot the RW teevee spew that Kerry is running a bad campaign.

19. I would think there would be great
criticism of Kerry if he loses because this is a race he should win.

Some races are longshots, some are too close to call and some you should win.

Dole and Mondale had little chance. Dukakis and Gore were close calls.

This is one Kerry should win. Most people want Bush gone. If Kerry loses, it's because he failed to be a reasonable alternative. That's all people want.

20. I don't think so....but we'll HATE the campaign manager probably
But if we all work to GOTV, then I don't see how we could lose. So far, the amount of people who didn't vote in 2000 that I've convinced to vote this year AND for Kerry is four. The amount of people who voted for Bush in 2000 that I've convinced to vote for Kerry this time around is three. So for me, that's 7 votes. My goal is to get a total of around 10-15.

21. Once it became certain that Kerry would be our nominee
I vowed to be supportive of him through Election Day at a minimum... hopefully, Inauguration Day. Once the Bushistas have been beaten though, I consider myself a free agent.
