GRIEVE | Marketing Misery for the Bush Campaign....
what's happening on the cable news today is utterly sickening. how many times will they manufacture these days of GRIEF and PAIN to exploit over and over the victims of that day?

where's the ANGER? how can these monsters continue to use these people to advance their agenda of lies. how can these people continue to allow themselves to be used?

(To the tune of "Smile")

GRIEVE

GRIEVE, SHOW US YOUR HEART BREAKING
GRIEVE, EVEN IF YOU'RE FAKING
WE'LL USE THE TEARS IN YOUR EYES
FOR OUR LIES
WHEN YOU GRIEVE FOR THOSE LOST TO TERROR
YOU MIGHT FORGET OUR ERROR
WE'LL USE YOUR PAIN IN OUR CAMPAIGN OF FEAR...

CYNICAL EXPLOITATION
ENDLESS ABOMINATION
ON EVERY DIAL
IS A MESSAGE SO VILE
THOUSANDS DIE, BUT YOU'RE STILL IN DANGER
GRIEVE, FOR ANOTHER RANGER
YOU HELP THE NEOCONS DECEIVE
IF YOU JUST GRIEVE...

14. The "grief" of this administration is a slap in the
face for all Americans, but especially those who were killed and their survivors. It sickens me to see this. I inadvertenly surfed to CNN and quickly moved on. It is just another photo-op for the Shrub and Mrs. Weed.

3. This is exactly how these cults of death in the Islamic world
were created. In Islam, there are anniversary days to commemorate the death of someone--7 days out, 1 month out, one year out from the event. If you have enough people dying there is never a time to not grieve and to release the anger and sense of pain. You be come trapped in a past fullf sorrow, pain, and anger till you lash out.

4. that's unsettling.,..
refering to the 9-11 commemotations across the country as "a cult of death." I thought we Democrats had more heart and soul than that.

7. I did not say that at all. My comment was simply that when
people become consumed by grief and anger, then it leads to dysfunction. In a larger society, it can make the society dysfunctional--we need to move on. That's not to say that we don't remember, but living in a culture which bases its political and social choices on pain and death and grieving without a hopeful outlook is not good. We still have a future out there and we need to build one for our kids and grandkids, while we remember.

8. Humans need to move past anger to be mentally healthy.
There are 5 stages of grief, ending with this:

5-Acceptance-there is a difference between resignation and acceptance. You have to accept the loss, not just try to bear it quietly. Realization that it takes two to make or break a marriage. Realization that the person is gone (in death) that it is not their fault, they didn't leave you on purpose. (even in cases of suicide, often the deceased person, was not in their right frame of mind) Finding the good that can come out of the pain of loss, finding comfort and healing. Our goals turn toward personal growth. Stay with fond memories of person.

9. ah, but it's republicans
who are exploiting the deaths with 24/7 coverage on their lapdog media. this is NOT about remembering the dead, it's about reminding everyone to be AFRAID and to TRUST the repukes to PROTECT them.

do you think that the 3000 names should be read by trembling family members every year?

their grief *should* be burnished into white-hot ANGER by now.

11. There's a limit to grief.
Anyone who has had a loved one die, whether of natural causes or in an accident knows this.

Over time the grief must get replaced with acceptance Ñ never forgetting the family member, but subduing the sharp emotion into memory.

We will be seeing the memorialization of 9/11 for years and years, just as we see the commemoration of Pearl Harbor on its anniversary.

In years to come, the TV commentators will tone it down.

16. I had a choice of two parties to attend today -
Edited on Sat Sep-11-04 12:04 PM by neebob
both annual events, not tied to a particular date. Neither host appears to have given much thought to fact it's September 11th, though I'm sure they did. I'll be surprised if someone doesn't bring it up.

I think it's appropriate for those who lost loved ones to grieve and for the rest of us to remember, but the TV stuff is just a big sick spectacle designed to keep the boogeyman alive and the war machine fired up. The producers and broadcasters make money off of it, do they not? The Fraudministration will certainly profit from it. It's despicable.

On edit: Never mind that it contradicts the idea of not bowing to terrorists.

19. and, of course, the reason the 1000
do not have a Day of Grief (aka PATRIOT DAY) is political.

I'd like to ask mr. bush: what did the officeworkers, waitresses, cleaning crews, bond traders, etc. that died on 9/11/01 do that made them 'patriots' that day?

other than DIE due to your administration's gross negligence?

of course, that's also why the 1000 servicemen are dead along with the tens of thousands of innocent iraqis and afghanis...

"Patriot Day" my ass!
