I had an interesting evening tonight. Good story.
I went to man a booth for the Arvada Harvest fest for Kerry. So anyway, While we got a couple of boots, The Republicans got a resturaunt but we still got more hits. But that is beside the point.

Here is my story. There is a state senate candidate on the Republican side named Jessica Corry. She had supporters wearing her shirts and they started chalking on the streets for her saying "Vote Jessica Corry for Senate district 19. They were around the corner from us but they started chalking for her right in front of our booth. We confronted them about it and they said that it was their right to freedom of speech. We said it was rude and it was defacement of property. So, another guy and I went over in front of their area with Kerry-Edwards signs and just stood there holding them. After about 10 or 15 minutes, we were asked to leave by an event person. So we said "fine. We won't hold signs in front of their area if they quit chalking in front of ours." So the official said "Ok we don't want a war here." We went back. But then they started chalking again. Someone picked up a piece of their chalk and gave it to us. So above the "Vote Jessica Corry" we put "Do Not". We got on the case of another official and he didn't do anything. Eventually people were getting mad because it disrupted their business at the shops in the festival. Eventually some police officers came over and asked us what the deal was. We told them about it. The police said that they had the right to freedom of speech. We told them about the official who told us not to stand in front of the Republican booth with the Kerry/Edwards signs. THe cops said that we had the right to stay due to 1st amendment. They were silently smiling at us because of our Kerry gear. But the cops told us and the Republicans "no more chalking" because it disrupted business. So, we won!!!!

1. Just shows that there is a rotten streak in a lot of these Repugs...
what a pain to have to deal with that during what could have been a perfectly nice day manning a booth. They are infantile, at best...

3. We also took the piece of Chalk and wrote:
"Vote John Kerry" in big letters in front of our booth. Now it seems that the cops are on Kerry's side based on the way they are clandestinly smiling at us. Supporting without supporting because they cannot be political in uniform.
