I'm reading Reason by Robert Reich and
he uses a "radcon" to refer to the right wing conservatives. It's short for radical conservative. Ever since the repugs have started referring to the Democratic party as the Democrat party (to distance our party from democracy and democratic principles) I've been trying to find a way to refer to them that is accurate and will piss them off at the same time. I don't like radcon but I do think we should refer to them as "radical conservatives" every chance we get. It's an accurate description and will make people think about what you are saying. So for now on let's refer to them as radical conservatives, not repugs, neocons or any other term we may have been using.

And if we can all get behind the term we will show a united front. The radical conservatives are very good at showing a united front and we need to learn from that. Apply their tactics to fighting them.

2. Except they're not even conservatives, really
Edited on Fri Sep-10-04 09:37 AM by priller
They're simply radicals. That's what I tell anyone who will listen.

Their conservatism is phony. They espouse conservative principles but don't actually do them. They talk smaller government while expanding it. They talk fiscal responsibility while racking up huge debts. They talk security while avoiding it at home to pour billions into the boondoggle in Iraq. Etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

3. About Reich Wing and Conservative labels
Reich Wing is too derogatory and could put off independents who read it. I'm more interested in giving them a label that the press might actually pick up on and one that could easily be associated with the GOP to damage their image without alienating independents.

And they aren't REALLY conservatives but for years they have sold Americans on the conservative label so we need to damage that label. I think associating radical with the conservative label is the way to do it.

They are radical. And if they continue to use the label conservative it would be nice to have people's minds associate the term with radical.
