Media Protest! I'm throwing out one of my TV's and I need idea's

where to do it. I was thinking of leaving a protest letter on it and leaving it at a broadcast center.

Any suggestions out there?

1. I think we should get Moveon to do an around America network scene

people could get old tv's and do a "we're mad as hell" Wouldn't it be fun if in every community at the same time people all around America bashed tv's in the name of fox, msrnc and cnn and said WE"RE MED AS HELL AND WE"RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE.??

2. An artist friend of ours had a "Kill your TV" party. You had to bring a

tv set and ball bats or something. Everyone got out on the lawn and executed the beasts. You could have a press release or something.

pitch the thing right on the doorstep of your favorite media outlet with a sign on it or something.

Even better, give it to a Republican.

8. send the broadcast center for your time wasted.

your time's expensive so write up a moderately real looking bill of fare and charge for how many hours you lost to bad programming. and leave your TV to them, the bill prorated against the warranty of course (they might appreciate the discount).

Use the proceeds to buy some good books and CD's.

TV and the mass media is general is such a wasteland, you will be better off. Although your post suggests that you have other tv's as well.

10. Finally lost it today too!

My excuse for watching all these years was the standard "you got to know what the idiots are saying" -- today's Hardball finally did it for me too.

What say we do two things to register a loud protest against the media?

1. Cancel our subscriptions to satellite/cable, pool these resources and take out a nationwide single-day full-page newspaper ad.

2. (Via this ad) Get people thusly fed up to go do something useful (register, canvass, just plain good old-fashioned community service) with all the time freed up by not watching TV every night (and day!).

Numbers is the game -- if we can use all of the internet resources to get at least 5 to 10 million people to participate that could be really powerful.
