Tom DeLay screwing with the Boy Scouts!!

I just got a letter from the Richard Morrison campaign that states (among other things) that:

"According to a recently circulated invitation, DeLay will be receiving the Spirit of the Eagle Award from the Boy Scouts of America at a black tie reception on September 17. The confusion lies in just what award the Boy Scouts will be handing out. The Spirit of the Eagle award is, according to the Boy Scouts’ website, “an honorary posthumous special recognition for a registered youth member who has lost his life in a tragic accident or through illness.” Since DeLay survived his scouting days, his image consultants came up with a new award for him - the “Golden Eagle” award. The problem is the Boy Scouts of America don’t have a “Golden Eagle”award. "

This black tie affair is at University of Houston, Clear Lake Tx
(who's campus isn't even in DeLay's district)

I wonder what the National Boy Scouts would think of this?

Then the grieving family could accept the "Spirit of the Eagle" on his behalf.
If he can't bring himself do the honorable thing, maybe they should just give him an award called "The Chickenhawk".

Trying to get to the bottom of this Fort Bend Boy Scouts honoring Tom DeLay deal is like trying to nail jello to a tree. It'll keep you busy, but you're not gonna get a whole lot of cooperation from either the jello or the tree.

This I know for a fact: The Scouts are not giving Tom DeLay an award of any kind. They never have. Chad Green at the Sam Houston Area Council told me personally that the Scouts did not pick Tom DeLay for this or any other Scouting award.

So how did it happen that there's a party going on where the Fort Bend Scouting is made to look like they are presenting Tom DeLay with The Golden Eagle Award?

This is where the jello and the nails come in.
