TV Alert - Greenwald's "Uncovered" on Sundance tonight
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 01:46 PM by southlandshari
I had no idea this was out on cable yet. For those of you who haven't sworn off tv and/or cable, here is your chance! Times below are on Central Standard Time, so convert as needed.

I've seen "Unprecedented" - good info, worth a watch. I've been dying to see "Uncovered" and, as it is unlikely to ever land in my little Alabama town (big screen or rental), this was a pleasant surprise!

--------------------------------------------------------

Uncovered: The War on Iraq

By Frank Scheck

NEW YORK -- A highly impressive array of talking heads deliver vivid counterarguments to the Bush administration's rationales for the war in Iraq in Robert Greenwald's documentary, the latest in a seemingly endless spate of politically themed films being released in conjunction with the campaign season. Expanded for this theatrical release from the 50-minute version previously released on DVD, "Uncovered: The War on Iraq" provides compelling arguments that even those on the right wing of the political spectrum will be hard pressed to entirely refute...

4. Need help
making sure this alert stays visible later in the day, given the holiday and all. Can you (or some kind soul) give it a kick in a couple of hours if it has dropped way off the screen?

I know I would appreciate the heads up on something like this if the shoe was on the other foot!

15. Excellent Film! Everyone should see this and share it with others
especially those on the fence. Greenwald provides a compelling case charging Bush with the misuse of prewar intelligence. My father-in-law says that it should be sent to every Democratic Headquarters in the country.

3. Film trailer here
I'm guessing most on DU have heard of the movie, but just in case...

Can't wait until tonight! I'm afraid our power will be out due to Frances before air time, but it is good to know the movie is going to be seen beyond the traditional big city release anyway.

7. can't complain
that would be obscene, considering we are just expecting power down and minor flooding here in central Alabama. Compared to what those in the initial landfall path of Frances have undoubtedly gone through, these are minor inconveniences!

Though I will admit that missing "Uncovered" would feel more than minor at this point!

I happened to post a few minutes before you did, but I really appreciate your heads up on "Uncovered" (and other documentaries on Sundance) today as well!

Doesn't matter who gets the news out first, just that it gets out and that we continue on as a community that is proactive when it comes to sharing important information and inspiration with one another!

is the New Democracy Project Forum with Krugman and some other authors speaking and taking questions. It got rave reviews here at DU the first time it aired.

Sounds like a pretty full evening!

26. you are not alone
I've heard of TIVO, but that is about all. I've got two tvs, a dvd/vcr, and a cable box all wired together with two splitters and about 1,000 feet of co-axial cable in hopes I might actually get these movies taped to good old VHS tonight. Lord, if Frances doesn't hit our power lines first, I may just blow the transformer out myself!

I'll be back later tonight to discuss on this thread - hope others will join me! Happy viewing!

I'll be thinking of you, and hope Frances is a lady, and leaves you in peace!

40. Here comes Frances!
Like I said earlier, I acknowledge the effects of this storm on my area in central Alabama will certainly pale in comparison to what those in Florida have suffered.

That said, I've been bumped offline three times in the past 20 minutes (seems to be cable modem related) and the power has flickered off and on repeatedly since mid-afternoon due to heavy winds.

I'm only reporting this in case I can't get back to my own thread to discuss these two fantastic films! With or without me, have a hearty discussion and PASS IT ON to those who need this kind of information before November!

And, most important, that the storm doesn't do any damage there.

44. TIVO is...
A digital video recorder (think VCR without the tapes) with an up-to-date TV schedule that let you pick shows or actors or types of stuff you want to record.

You can even trick it out and hook it up to your DSL or Cable Modem or phone line so it can get new schedules and receive commands for programs to record from any PC you have connected to the internet.

:-)

'Luck out there!
