Notice how Gas Prices FELL during the week of the puke Convention?
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 06:36 PM by T Bone
Here in a Red* State the gas prices began falling dramatically the weekend before the Repuke convention. from around 1.94 down thru 1.80, down thru 1.70, down thru the 1.60 's!

On Thursday evening, before Bush's speech and Friday morning after his speech the price was:

$1.59 at most of the stations I passed, nothing higher than 1.62 on Thursday evening and Friday morning until noon. Then last night after 9 p.m. --- back to AT LEAST $1.84, everywhere, 1.89 lots of places.

Just a coincidence?

What did everyone notice in your areas?

I think here in a 'base' RNC area they didn't want the proles thinking about gas prices while the Dick and Bush show was on.

Really.

1. $1.89 will look good the week after Nov. 2nd.
They'll probably jack it up to 3.00.

2. It's all about the average price they get I think
I have seen gas prices fluctuate wildly here. I often wonder if they are down here and high in another place to achieve an AVERAGE price received without pissing too many people off or without pissing people off for a long extended period of time.

We are ALL being 'conditioned' to a higher, intolerable, AVERAGE price over the long haul.

Boiling a frog slowly.

An long term study for an economics school, if they had the guts to do it and publish it. Of course they probably already have, and sold the results to corporate America and the energy industry in particular.

10. The "one" soldier wasn't added
until AFTER the convention. I was checking lunaville.org (or icasualties.org as it's now called) like ten times a day during the convention and not one death was added until Friday, when they upped it to 979. I'm sure it will go up in the next few days as they add the names they've been withholding. I'm just curious as to how far over 1,000 we'll be on Election Day.

4. Yup! I was just thinking that the other day.
How con-VE-nient. It is a psychological ploy. People go to the gas pumps and are thrilled to see gas down about 10 cents per gallon, and then they go home, flip on the tv and see the news about the Republican convention and their subconscious then makes the association. Mind f*ckers!

5. so you saw the prices go down in your area all week too?
what did you notice about the prices in your area? What type of area is it? That is what I would like for all responders in this thread, in case they noticed. My guess is there was no difference or even a rise in 'blue' areas.

6. I was reading last week...
That the engine that fueled this rise in prices was hedge funds. Interestingly, a week before the convention, the hedge funds started taking profits, which always drives prices down.

Hedge Funds, we might add, seem to have more than their share of problem with breaking certain laws. I have no reason to disbelieve that certain quids have been pro quo'ed as regards this situation.

Like maybe a little looking the other way.

8. When the REAL slam comes
If Bush wins:
Probably late in January, after the Coronation. Earlier, given a bad early winter, but with lots of excuse-making.

If Kerry wins:
One minute after Midnight on November 3rd.

Our choice now is how badly f**ked we want to be.

There's also a natural gas crisis coming. Keep your blankets within easy reach!

9. I was happy with $1.84 - which is scary
I had a friend comment about that - "Well, they've done it, when we used to see $1.25 and bitch four years ago, we are now happier than pigs in shit to see $1.85." - wonder where that $.60 a gallon went?
