Ethics and the War on Terror
Edited on Sat Sep-04-04 08:10 AM by ck4829
I want to determine of the war on terror was a good thing or not. Studies in Ethics say that if the Good outweighs the Bad, than an act is Ethical or good. The other way means it's bad. I have been trying to find out if the war were ethical, and I have been having some trouble, so I need some help.

The Good
We've freed two countries from Dictatorships.
Osama bin Laden is supposedly on the run.

The Bad
The Dictatorships at one time received help from America.
Both Afghanistan and Iraq could easily lose their fragile democracies.
Osama bin Laden is still alive.
1000's of innocent people have on all died on all sides.
The number of terrorists has increased worldwide.
We went after Iraq for it's alleged WMD, however it was known that North Korea had WMD the whole time.
Terrorist Groups, including Al Qaeda, have not been disrupted.
George W Bush has said we can't win this war on terror, meaning he has entered us into a quagmire that could last for decades.
This war has allowed people to be held, most just held because of their religion or skin color, indefinitely.
The War on Terror has failed to stop terror here, with the Anthrax letters and DC Snipers, and abroad, there has been a multitude of Terrorist Acts.

So, in your opinion, is this War on Terror a good thing or a bad thing?

1. IMHO
There IS no War On Terror. It's a euphemism created to demonize anyone who opposes the War On American Freedom and the War To Become a Global Corporate Empire.
