NBC News findings run counter to recent Bush administration claims
and speakers at the GOP convention who trumpeted Bush administration successes in the war on terrorism.

NBC News analysis of Islamic terrorism since Sept. 11, 2001, shows that attacks are on the rise worldwide — dramatically. 58 percent of them — 1,709 — have occurred this year.

Is the world safer? They lied again.

BUSH: We have led, many have joined, and America and the world are safer.

The truth is there have been more terrorist attacks this year when Bush Administration said the world is safer. While the US has not had major attacks within the country, it appears that the rest of the world is being subjected to the anger.
