I found DU by reading Michael Moore's Stupid White men where he mentioned Smirking Chimp. As I followed links, I found DU, just as we were going into Iraq. CNN was driving me nuts with the drumbeat to war. DU is definitely a godsend!

I come to DU for support. Watching the march today has to be one of the most moving experiences of my lifetime. There is hope! Just look at the crowd, so different yet so united. Completely peaceful expressions of opinions. This is democracy in action!

15. I was very proud to be part of DU these past few days

the outpouring of support and love for Mari333 and Cuban_Liberal, AND their individual strength and eloquence was overwhelming.

haven't cried as much in I don't know how long.

vetwife has done an incredible amount of work coordinating donations for Mari333 and her family, and Ann Arbor Dem did a fantastic job setting up the floral donation with the florist, the funeral home, the church and DU--all in a few hours before setting off on a trip.

and then there are the hundreds of DUers who contributed words of support and sympathy, and all the donations! it was a flood of $5, $10, $20 that pushed the cash gift to over $1000 (and counting).

also, DU came together and kept our on-air voice, The Guy James Show, alive in the last weeks. most weeks, DU members make up at least 50% of the call-ins.

as I said in an earlier post, at DU, 'compassionate' is not an empty adjective. it is a calling to real action.

this forum has been extraordinary, as usual.
