How do we fight a media that does not give us equal time?
For weeks they gave credibility to these swift boat lies, and even though there falsehoods were exposed, it was not done on an equal time basis. In other words the media still left the impression of doubt

How do we fight something like that?

3. Money talks but fear silences
The media have licked *'s boots for so long, they aren't sure he has more body parts than just feet.

But the change is coming for one reason: ratings.

Even freepers can only tolerate so much propoganda. Ratings for "news" shows are in the toilet. People used to tune in to learn something. Now, about all they learn is how deceptive, timid and inane the celebrity journalists truly are. Watching the news anymore is like buying a box of candy, opening it, and finding only one piece of half-chewed chocolate and a lot of fillers and ads for viagra and hot dog eating contests. People have stopped buying.

You will see a slow but subtle shift in the news. They're holding off now because they're not sure if * is staying or going, but even the media know that the American public is PISSED at them, and they'd better change that little tune they're whistling or they will join the ranks of the unemployed.

4. Right! Stop Complaining. Switch the damn TV "news" off!!!
WE are their source of money and power. When dries up they will get the only message they understand and respond to. Never mind a "million man march"! It is a lot easier than that. How about a "million family switch off"????

5. I keep telling people we need to do hostile takeovers.

We can each buy a few shares of stock, take over the company, boot out the baord of directors. We should team up with Ted Turner and George Soros, etc.

6. well that's the zillion dollar question, isn't it?
and the Dems had BETTER figure out a way to use and manipulate the media AS IT EXISTS NOW or we're gonna be screwed big time (more than we already are).

The media is pretty dumb. They react to certain things in a very predictable fashion. The Dems are too nice and too gentlemanly to use this trait of theirs.

Being nice gets you nowhere when you're up against people who will stoop to no level of evil.

It's like war. Even if you don't like war, you know that sometimes you have to fight a war, stoop to the enemy's level, and do what you gotta do.

We're at war and the Dems STILL haven't figured it out. Twenty years now and they still think it's just "politics". BLAH! These people declared WAR on us twenty years ago! Read the new Harper's article by Lewis Lapham and he describes it. He was there. He saw it happen. He was offered to go over to the dark side for a LOT of money.

We're at war, folks. And we're getting our asses kicked.

7. A thought

pass on media clips you see that support your view. I have a collection of clips clips that include some about Swifties. I noticed after making the sovereignty clip after Bush's Unity speech, that almost 75,000 people have looked at it, including sending it around in email.

A lot of people do that email chain stuff and send out baloney to all their friends. If you see something that shows an alternate view to what the media shows or DOES NOT SHOW, send the URL to your pals.

I'm not suggesting that this is the best way to get around a complicit media. What would be best is for the FCC to get an overhaul, bring back the fairness doctrine, change the Telecommunications Act, etc (which is a political issue ONLY FIXED BY ELECTING KERRY AND NOT BUSH). But right now that is not going to happen, so we have to look for opportuntiies.

Another thing you could do is write to your local paper or take out an ad talking about it. People quite often read their local paper.

8. Bringing back the fairness doctrine is not the way...
Restricting freedom of speech isnt the way out of this. Its by use of compelling entertaining rational speech.

Forcing the government to MAKE your opponents present your side sound fine on the surface, but it quiets speech overall and can damn well be used against you.

9. I don't know if it is possible
since any national TV channel is automatically owned by large corps and they are usually owned by rich GOP types. Unless you want to sue all of these channels in federal court, I just don't know how to get equal time.

10. Turn them off - only a few channels get any ratings from me
1. World Link - just about day and night

2. Comedy Central - Chapel Show & Daily Show - The instant Colin Quinn comes on the channel is changed.

3. Speed Channel - If World Link covered F1 trust me I'd watch that.

4. CSPAN - for some odd reason I like to start my days wondering what the phuck some people are smoking.

5. NWI - Kind of random I know - but they're pretty good.

6. CBS/ABC/ESPN - these channels are only tuned into when the Steelers are playing otherwise they wouldn't dare get a second of my attention.

7. PBS - Sometimes but most of the time they are quite intolerable.

The last time I watched CNN, MSRNC, FUX, CBS/ABC/NBC (other than when the Steelers are on) was about a year or so ago when I watched Tim Russert suck Cheney's dick for about an hour. When you can watch an hour of "the news" and come away with only learning how badly the "journalist" needs a pair of kneepads then it's time to turn them off.
