a nightly TV show REALLY covering the RNC & protests & issues
So the group I work with is putting out a live one-hour show on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) public acess which will also stream on Free Speech TV and dowloaded for later screening screenings at a bunch of other cable access channels across the country. If it's not showing where you are you can call your local public access station and request that they download and show it, it's free for all public outlets. It will also be streamed live on MNN (www.mnn.org). We've been working really hard on putting this together, and it will be a great alternative to corporate coverage. Here is our press blurb.

Unconventional TV DAILY!
Sun-Fri; 8/29 10-11pm; 8/30-9/3 9-10 pm EST
Ch: TW 34, RCN 110
The Independent Media Center, Paper Tiger, Deep Dish TV and other media collectives present 'Unconventional TV', nightly coverage of the RNC. The only televised RNC coverage not subject to a rigid made-for-TV script and thankfully absent of the tiresome 'expert' commentators. With over 100 cameras roving the streets and a cast in the hundreds of thousands, this promises to be the most comprehensive coverage of the participatory politics taking place outside of the security barriers. Tune in and see what democracy can really look like!
Also LIVE nationally on FSTV, Dish Network Channel 9415

3. why yes it is!
This show will consist of thematic segments produced by independent videographers focusing either on larger issues (Bush on environment), groups (Still We Rise) and protests/actions. Expect to see a full coverage of A31, the day of civil disobedience. We have a host, a lovely, eloquent woman who works with the National Immigration Project of NLG fighting for families whose members face unfar deportation or detention and between the segments and the breaking news we will have guests--progressive politicians, organizers, human/civil rights advocates, thinkers/authors like Naomi Klein (No Logo).
Basically it will be stuff that you won't see on any major network.

7. whoops, I can't figure out how PM works
um, okay, very embarassing, never mind.

So, yes, please get in touch with us. Email carlos@papartiger.org he is in charge of coordinating guests. Tell him that Nica said to contact him, and I will send him an email too. Also, is this a group you are affiliated with? If you guys wanted to/could make a segment about your work, or Bush's lies, we want segments!!! The call for segments is up on the nycimcvideo.org webpage.

13. Democracy Now is also doing similiar coverage
Their press release said:

As tens of thousands of people descend
on New York to protest the Republican National Convention, the national radio and TV show Democracy Now! announces plans to broadcast unprecedented, in- depth, comprehensive coverage, and analysis of the "Battle for New York."
Working with hundreds of filmmakers and unembedded independent journalists Democracy Now! will have camera crews blanketing the city. During the RNC, Democracy Now! is expanding its coverage to two hours for its ground-breaking series "Breaking With Convention: Battle for New York."

:kick:

nodehopper, ask the admin if they will list you at the top somewhere, like they do radio shows or something. Maybe they'll say yes!

There's a forum for that sort of thing. Thanks for your work in Manhattan and good luck!

18. go here
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=120

and start a topic with a title that asks your question or describes the video coverage you expect, write more inside the post about it, maybe request they list you or ask if it's even possible (they do seem a little stingy with top of the page listings, it's probably a chore to do for the admins, so be nice.)

Sooner or later the admin will respond to you and tell you what they can do or not.

Good luck!
