Out of power, DuPage GOP struggles
I soooo hate to gloat, but...

Snip:

It was a pandering remark, a sure-fire way to spur an audience filled with loyal GOP soldiers.

"I don't know about you," U.S. Senate hopeful Andy McKenna said, "but I am absolutely proud to be a Republican."

The line, offered to a sparse crowd at the DuPage County Republican Day last week, drew only an awkward smattering of applause. The reaction seemed the kind of forced enthusiasm one musters after a keynote speaker compliments the rubber chicken dinner.

Yet it accurately reflects the fatigue spreading through the ranks of the local GOP in recent months. After decades of controlling state politics, DuPage party members are struggling with their new powerless position in Illinois.

4. Downstate is two party - Amazing!
In the 50's and 60's they took votes from black areas and Dem areas and "lost" them. Some were found later in rivers - but no media! Just police reports.

Indeed the "double vote = unclear vote = means no vote" was only thrown out by the courts in Illinois in 1963 - the GOP had taught the counters to use their pencil to make a mark - staight line - whatever - on the paper and then call the judge to disqualify the vote as a "unclear vote".

Indeed in 1960 there was so much fraud that it outdid Daly's Chicago - forcing Nixon (who sued via front groups) to finally drop his election challenge to JFK on 12/23/1960 - thus leaving Nixon holding the record for the longest (11 days longer than Gore) court action against a pres election.
