You realize we're going to have some unlikely allies when s#$ hits the fan
The "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" thread is important in understanding how the stakes have changed in this country. As one who believes fascism came to this country with the death of Roosevelt, prospered with the murders of Rev. Martin Luther King and Senator Robert Kennedy, and made its official debut in 2000 November, let me say that we are in the fight for our lives, and there are a lot of people who share this assertion. Ergo, we're going to have quite the disparate crowd in the "trenches": conservatives, libertarians, moderates, liberals, socialists, communists, militia-men, white supremacists, people who speak to aliens on their HAM radios...

You know, interesting people. And you know what--I'd take David Duke if he wants in.

And we should. In short time--unless the miraculous occurs--politics isn't going to matter. The things we should unite under is the restoration of the Bill of Rights, the end of Empire, the prevention of martial law. Unfortunately, the welfare state, Roe v. Wade, and environmentalism may be secondary goals--things to fight over in the future. We're taking about the big "F" word here, folks.

My dream is for America to be a socialist democracy, but right now, I'd be happy with the return of the Republic.

1. I've always thought that we will at some point absorb gun-owners
as a significant demographic in our party. That ought to freak some folks out (not as bad as David Duke might though, lol).

2. I agree about the Republic
As citizens, our duty to the Republic is our highest calling. That's what we are ultimately pledging to in the Pledge of Allegiance. Lately, I've been thinking about the Sons of Liberty, the grassroots radicals who fought against the tyranny of George III. I believe it would be to our benefit to resurrect this group. To that end I have created a blog, childrenofliberty.blogspot.com, for people to discuss this. I am also in the process of setting up a website on some of my free space, but I'm not a very good or very fast coder, so that might take a while. But the blog is up. I called it children of liberty from "sons of liberty" but didn't want to exclude the daughters of liberty out there this time around. :) I'd appreciate any feedback on the idea...
