I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but this is about two asides in the articles rather than the main thread of the articles. For two days running I've noticed quotes in the UK Guardian regarding offensive emails from Freepers.
The first was in a Martin Kettle article yesterday
Martin Kettle Article "That is why, for example, when people ask me what I think will happen in the US presidential election, my answer is that John Kerry is winning. I say this, my abusive rightwing American email correspondents may like to note, not because I am a jerk or a pinko or because I come from a country that has lost its manhood, nor even because I want it to happen, but simply because that is currently the conclusion of most of the polls, especially in the battleground states....
... Calling me a jerk doesn't change that, you bigots." Today, in a Polly Toynbee article
Polly Toynbee Article " The Bushites in their daily, foul-mouthed email assaults on Guardian writers try to portray current anti-American sentiment as racist, akin to anti-semitic. They try to pretend "old" Europe is just effetely snobbish about the Ugly Americans. They dismiss anti-Bush disgust in developing countries as envy and as ignorant support for terror." I don't know why I'm surprised, but it's a classic example of Freeper tactics.
