Quote from an average Bush supporter.
This is a quote taken from another forum from a Bush supporter.

"In 1970 I returned home from Vietnam the same week after we invaded Cambodia and the Kent State slaying. I went up to Gainesville Florida to visits some girls. As I drove into town near the campus I saw a demonstration of about 100 students marching to “show their solidarity with Kent State”. I pulled off the side of the road as they passed. I got up on the hood of my car. As the protesters passed I whipped out my pecker and pissed on them. Many non-protesters cheered me on as I did it. I was a hero to my friends in the car and other people that heard the story. The story made the front page of the Gainesville Sun. By the way, I was ready for a confrontation but none of those pussy protestors had the guts to challenge me other than a few words of disapproval."

Class, real class.

2. I lived in Gainesville in 1970. Odd that I never heard that story.

Makes me think it's a big fat lie, probably told by someday who never was in the service, much less in Nam, and likely wasn't even born in 1970.

3. Another reactionary prevaricator.
That never happened, and I defy anyone to show me that story on the front page of the Gainsville Sun. busholini supporters are pathological liars, among many other character flaws.

8. In 1970 as a teenager:
I remember Kent State and thinking how terrible that our NG kids were killing our war protestor kids. My consensus was that our government had failed to unite us in a common cause. Our Nam soldiers were limited beyond belief by Johnson and Nixon as to winning the war. They could only bomb on certain days and then only on certain trails. The frustration of our returning vets was intense. Many of our kids said "Hell, no, we won't go". I didn't blaame them.

Bush has no consensus, no effective plan, or exit plan. But his corporatist buddies have never been richer or happier.

5. I was in a couple Cambodia/Kent State demonstrations.
Believe me, if anyone had done that, my girlfriends and I would have stopped, pointed to his tiny little thing and laughed at it.

11. Not only was I in Gainesville in 1970, I was a peace activist

in Gainesville in 1970, even got my picture in the Gainesville Sun about the same time he's talking about. The chances that anything like this actually happened and I didn't see it in the Sun or hear about it from other peace activists in Gainesville are just really small.

Like this guy's brain.

12. I was in Gainesville in 1970
I vaguely remember a story in the newspaper of someone urinating on protesters. It was a long time ago but the story rings a bell. I may be mistaken but the memory is there.

13. As a Gainesville resident, I would not be surprised
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 11:38 AM by neoteric lefty
even though this is the one gem in the pile of coal (in N. Central Florida) so-to-speak, many residents here are still hardcore RW. It sometimes is sickening to see. I can only guess how much less tolerant of liberals and progressives it was 30 years ago.
