Who are the men and women of the US military?
We come from all parts of the country, although the lower and middle class are strongest represented.

We are all colors, races, ethnicities, and cultures.

We are all religions.

In short, we are a cross section of America.

We are Democrats, Republicans, and (a whole lot) of independents.

We have been getting a bad deal in the media. A few bad servicemembers are being punished for their crimes. A few trumped up heros are trying to heal from that as well.(Lyndie England, and Jessica Lynch)

We are mothers and fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, boyfriends, girlfriends, ect.

This is what we are.

2. Forgot to add a few things
Some of the things we are not......

We are not all Bush supporters. Notice how he isnt doing big unscripted love fests at Army bases anymore?

We are not psychos that like to kill people.

We are not in it for the college money.

3. I was
I was as liberal as could be in 8 years of service. Funny thing was, most of my co-workers were too. These are still very close friends of mine, and we're ALL working to defeat Bush, just as we worked to elect Clinton twice and Gore once.

4. Yep.
Most of my coworkers were too. Maybe not outright liberals, but definetely not conservatives. And I still keep in touch. Heck, it's only been 6 months...

5. Thank you both for your service...
I am getting out after this enlistment. I am wanted to stay in for twenty, but I have some injuries that are keeping me from reenlisting again. Most people I know want to get rid of Bush. Most of us know at least one person who hasnt come home from Iraq.

7. And thank you
I was out in 2000, but I've known several people who have gone to the ME several times in the past 4 years. It's such bullshit. I'm sorry you've lost comrades. I had a couple of friends who were severely wounded at Khobar Towers in '96. I was in Jordan at the time.

9. Oh, I'm sorry...
"My Fellow Squids".

I joined the Navy
To see the world
But what did I see?
I saw the sea.

I saw the Pacific
And I saw the Atlantic
But the Atlantic
Wasn't romantic
And the Pacific wasn't very much at all!

11. Bwahahahaha
If you had joined the army to STAY in Louisiana, they would have sent you to Thule, Greenland of course.

My father, from NYC, joined the Air Force to see the world. He saw...
Basic in Lackland, Texas
Electronics in Mississippi
And 4 years in Selma, Alabama.
So he Joined the Air Force, and saw the Confederacy.

13. No way!
That's hilarious! I'm sorry. :D I didn't want to go overseas, then after 4 years in Virginia, I begged to go overseas. Nothing agains VA, I was just ready to go. So, the wife, daughter, and I got orders to Okinawa, and spent 4 years of our lives there. Our daughter wasn't even 2 when we got there, and when we left she was in Kindergarden.

18. YOSSARIAN LIVES!!
I have owned three copies of that book. It should be required reading for everyone in basic training. It could have been written contemporarily...Just change Milo Minderbinder to Haliburton or KBR.....

19. Man, it should be required
For EVERYONE period! Brilliant book. My grandpa (WWII pilot) tried to get me to read it when I was like 12. I thought, man this book sucks! Then I had to read it in college (while I was active duty) and was completely and totally floored!
