Yee-HAW! Saddam's "head" on display at Kentucky State Fair
:eyes:

A new exhibit at the Kentucky State Fair came from thousands of miles away -- all the way from Iraq.

It is the head of one of Saddam Hussein's countless statues...

...Visitors said they didn't see anything controversial about having it on display at the fair.

"History, it's just part of history," said Beth Hendrickson. "Why not have it here?"

Added Jody Leonard: "It's a trophy that was brought home (by) our troops, and that's something to be proud of."...

1. *ahem* From Article 103 of the UCMJ:
"All persons subject to this chapter shall secure all public property taken from the enemy for the service of the United States, and shall give notice and turn over to the proper authority without delay all captured or abandoned property in their possession, custody, or control.

(b) Any person subject to this chapter who—

(1) fails to carry out the duties prescribed in subsection (a);

(2) buys, sells, trades, or in any way deals in or disposes of captured or abandoned property, whereby he receives or expects any profit, benefit, or advantage to himself or another directly or in-directly connected with himself; or

(3) engages in looting or pillaging; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Ignorant fucksticks.

2. I'm sure the head was secured with the cooperation of the Bushies.

Unless a soldier could sneak a 75-pound bronze Saddam head through customs.

when we returned from Vietnam. we got on a plane at Camrahn Bay and got off at Fort Lewis Washington. Never once were we ever checked for anything we may have been carrying. We arrived in the same jungle fatigues we were wearing in Nam, no matter how dirty or worn.

4. Exactly, these things aren't checked very well
Don't ask how I know :P

There are two ways this can be looked at:

a. a soldier and/or or his COs arranged illegally for war trophies to be sent back to the States, or

b. this was done legally and they are using war trophies as some sort of political tool.

Either way it sucks.

5. I'm going to go with "b"
But even if it were "a", the gub'ment would probably let it slide, anyway -- you know, good propaganda for the red states and all.
