The e-mail accused the senators of having caved in to pressure from trial lawyers, who oppose lawsuit limits, and asserted that senators had placed "their own ambitions" above the interests of the party.
Senate Rules Chairman Tom Lee, R-Brandon, said the governor's criticism derailed ongoing negotiations and means it is unlikely that lawmakers will pass a medical malpractice bill before the session's scheduled end next Wednesday....."
SNIP...."As an indication of the highstakes politics being played out, Lee said he and other Senate Republicans have been receiving phone calls and letters from the "biggest of the big" GOP financial supporters, implying senators could not expect their support if they opposed the governor.
"So the gauntlet has been thrown down," Lee said. "The irony is, you want to talk about principle, the very evidence that our vote is for sale is to cave in to that kind of pressure......"END SNIP
These are what you call threats, I do believe.
