He didn't call it that, but he said "never say never" to raising taxes and said (paraphrased)

Well, we could have...

- an earthquake

- a natural disaster

- and a terrorist attack.

He didn't call it a trifecta, but I'd be feeling nervous if I was in CA right now.

(not an entirely serious post)

1. My nerves have been standing on in since this recall
thing became a fact. I hope you aren't prophetic. The last thing California needs right now is a big, destructive earthquake.

3. I'm not so disturbed by that, actually
An earthquake can't be manufactured, AFAIK. I can't think of any natural disaster in California except an earthquake or maybe a Mt. Shasta eruption, which isn't that manufacturable either. A terrorist attack on American soil will be the last thing the GOP needs if it is to project itself as the party of national security.

What does bug me, however, is Ah-nold's opposition to raising taxes in any other situation. I know that California's taxes are not exactly the lowest in the union, but if the deficit grows much larger, the state government will need to consider raising taxes.

4. I don't either

But the whole similarity of the Bush statement and Ah-nold's just had to be brought up. It was weird...and I'm sure it was also on purpose too.

You have to include the terrorism excuse in anything from now on, especially if you're a Republican.

5. Right...
...actually, my biggest gripe with the Terminator is that he's an idiot ("Michael Winner is more than a friend to me - he's a complete stranger").

And you're also right about the terrorism excuse and the GOP. OTOH, this exception won't help the GOP at all when the Democrats attack it for not doing enough to protect the people even after they've been given a carte blanche to do whatever they wanted to do.

6. My problem with Ah-nold
is just that. What if we did have...

an earthquake,

a natural disaster,

a terrorist attack?

Would he even know what to do? It ain't gonna be like in the movies T guy.
