Petition: God is Not a Republican
Sign this petition from Sojourners - taking a stand against Falwell & Co.:

http://go.sojo.net/campaign/takebackourfaith

We believe that claims of divine appointment for the President, uncritical affirmation of his policies, and assertions that all Christians must vote for his re-election constitute bad theology and dangerous religion.

We believe that sincere Christians and other people of faith can choose to vote for President Bush or Senator Kerry - for reasons deeply rooted in their faith.

We believe all candidates should be examined by measuring their policies against the complete range of Christian ethics and values.

We will measure the candidates by whether they enhance human life, human dignity, and human rights; whether they strengthen family life and protect children; whether they promote racial reconciliation and support gender equality; whether they serve peace and social justice; and whether they advance the common good rather than only individual, national, and special interests.

8. It's only a two party system buddy.
But assuming there are no party boundaries, I'd say he was a communist. Like Thomas Moore's Utopia communist, not the corrupt elite oligarchy communist.

7. I can't sign it, sorry
I don't honestly believe that anyone who actually is a sincere Christian could ever justifiably vote for Bush

16. Then what's the problem?
The site is not claiming that sincere Christians vote for Bush. In fact it is just the opposite.

12. Bush represents those that USE religion....
Just as he has USED our volunteer army and young men to do his bidding....just as he has USED the middle class to propel more profits to the top of the heap....just as he has USED the office of presidency and specifically promoted an agenda which attempts to bypass congress or cleverly work around it...

In the mind of a drunk neocon business man....this is all good business....and they congratulate each other on the golf course or bar room about such successes.....

It represents the quintessential "business gone corrupt" attitude that permeates our culture and which defines using ANYTHING to get what you want....

Success is self congratulatory....and the means to the success is of no relevance once the success has been achieved....

And using religion is obviously no exception....

He ....as do other neocons that sit in church faithfully once a week to rubber stamp their convoluted behavior and use the time to revel in their sanctimonious successes....have not one clue whatsoever about what Christ's message was.....
