Careful with your posts cause the FBI is surely reading them . . .
It just came on the radio. A man who has a website (I suppose against Bush), got a visit today. He said they were very polite and very intimidating.

Who would have thought that they would have to tip toe around issues to keep from getting questioned by . . .

Careful friends is all I got to say.

following the Bloodless Coup of 2000.

But Patriots Hide in Plain Sight!

Fuck the Gestapo and the Bushstapo and I would LOVE to see if I had the balls to tell an SS Man where to stick it!

" was convicted in 1990 of five felony counts of lying to Congress, destroying official documents and obstructing congressional inquiries into the Iran-contra affair, which involved the secret sale of arms to Iran in the mid-1980s and diversion of profits to help the contra rebels in Nicaragua.

Poindexter, a retired Navy rear admiral, was the highest-ranking Reagan administration official found guilty in the scandal. He was sentenced to six months in jail by a federal judge who called him "the decision-making head" of a scheme to deceive Congress. The U.S. Court of Appeals overturned that conviction in 1991, saying Poindexter's rights had been violated through the use of testimony he had given to Congress after being granted immunity."

so they are funded by someone else who pays their credit card bills and limits their cash. so I've heard. essentially they same kind of setup that a lot of college students have. International students have to jump through dozens of hoops to show exactly who is funding their education. Good americans apparently use cash, terrorist use credit cards. It's all really quite dumb.

Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 06:24 PM by Tight_rope
How dare they wake him up when he was taking his afternoon nap. And the sad part, was that they wake him up over some bullshit he said at the gym. Couldn't they have waited until he was awake and at the gym (the crime scene). Every time I think about the FBI I remember how ridiculous they are when they go after people like the guy from the gym in Fahrenheit 9/11.:spank:

Saw it on TV, read it in a newspaper, saw it online...

OK, the online one is still more suspect than the others...

But these are our media sources. I agree that often even these sources lack credibility, but you can cut the poster some slack...

It's a story that will have to be fleshed out over the next couple of days...

104. I didn't make it up. As a matter of fact, if you watched the news . . .
tonight you would have seen the report on how the FBI is trying to get people who they think will "harm" others or "disrupt" the Republican Convention.

I heard it on Air America during a news break while Randi Rhodes was on.

Here is an actual article posted here earlier from the New York Times.

<http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/16/politics/campaign/16fbi.html?hp>

How would it benefit me to make up such a story? Also, don't you find the truth of it all a little bit Gestapoish?

Edited on Mon Aug-16-04 07:59 PM by Talkative1
...for my DOG.

Because they're 1/10th the price in Thailand.

The last time I got my order, the box had been opened and there was a letter from Customs in it, saying that ordering drugs from foreign companies was illegal according to (some bullshit law).

The FDA's website was on the note, so I sent them an email a day of a picture of my dying dog because I couldn't afford the $728/month drug from the vet. Pricks.

Hello to all the FBI men reading this board. :hi:

Too bad that Bush and his cronies would rather task you with monitoring domestic dissent than with tracking down bin Laden and his thugs. But, hey, I guess they have their own set of priorities, and they've given you your marching orders, so ... <shrug>.

That is their job...did you think you were immune to it...when you speak against the govt, they monitor you...dont for a second think they do not, they do. Did you think for a second that this site was not monitored from word go!! Of course it was and continues to be monitored. It will not hurt you all that much, for the most part. If you fly, you will be on the list to check for security reasons..not much more will happen at this point, but you are monitored. If you lived through the 60s and 70s, you will remember the FBI and CIA monitored and filmed every demonstration..every protest of the war...did you think it stopped...now it is even more so...all such sites as this are monitored.

30. re : "speaking against the government"

There's a HUGE difference between "speaking against George W. Bush" and "speaking against the government". Bush is not America. The Republican Party is not America. We, the People, are America. This government belongs to us.

That's not to say that we should expect the right wing to respect that fact (it would be at odds with 90+ years of their history). But, still, I think we should hold them to a better standard rather than simply resigning ourselves to perpetually being on the receiving end of their abuses.

53. dear mxp:

Just pointing out the obvious: that the fact that they obviously do these things doesn't mean that we should lose our sense of outrage over it. Surveillance and harassment of political dissent is one of the hallmarks of a police state. Just because it's happenning doesn't mean that we should just accept it as part of the scenery. That's all I was saying.

59. OK Mike
But the starting point called "the way it ought to be" leads to nowhere...you can only get to point B from the point A that is called "the way it is". So, first call is accepting what is. If you can change it..go for it...do what ever you can to make it as it ought to be. In the mean time..accepting reality of what is...is not "accepting" it as a forever...or as a victim of it, it is just accepting the reality of how it is now...which is an important first step to changing it...if you can...and sometimes you cannot...no matter how much you want it to be as it ought to be. Then you have to live with it until change can happen. But whatever you do, must be based on the reality of now.

"If you fly, you will be on the list to check for security reasons"

If that is true, they had to do a lot more than simply read this forum. How can they investigate our real names? They could contact or monitor our ISP to establish our real world identities. But that is harder we one posts only from an office computer.

If you donate, they could monitor your credit card transaction. That that is quite a lot of work. Can we expect that is is done? I assume not for the average poster.

26. I've already got my file
Back in the 80's (under Ronnie) I was protesting our support of RW dictatorships in So America. I threw away my draft registration card (symbolic anti-military protest). I threw it on the ground. A few weeks later I received a brand new card in the mail, with my updated, then-current address. Right after my little act, I was also interviewed by a 'radio station', where they got me to encourage others to throw away their cards (which happens to be against the law, it turns out). I discovered later there was no radio station by the name they had given me.

So.... A) the FBI watching 'liberals' is nothing new, and A) it's not that hard to get on an FBI list.

I suppose it would only really affect me if I tried to get a gov't job, or when the dictatorship finally arrives, and they throw me in jail or whatever.

28. Uh-oh, I apologize for some of my postings.

It wasn't my intention to frighten the F.B.I.

I had no idea they were here when I posted about the economic downturn and the possibility that they could lose their jobs.

I thought I was just chatting with fellow Democrats when I posted about the waste, fraud, abuse, nepotism, cronyism, corporate crime, corruption, and mismanagement that could threaten the existence of our intelligence agencies.

And I didn't realize there were any vulnerable, sheltered, clueless minds around here when I posted about the high number of pedophiles in the Republican party.

But I'm not going to apologize for MIHOP postings--the BFEE should apologize for that IMO. So I'm putting the kettle on so that I can offer my visitors some tea.

Being a believer in Democracy it took me over 2 months to get up the courage to register here. I don't want to disappear in the middle of the night and have my neighbors go to jail for talking about it. If Mr Bush gets away with stealing another election we all can say goodbye to Democracy. He will declares martial law and then I will keep my mouth shut. Hell, these guys are so greedy for money/power that they would allow something to happen just so they could declare martial law. It was one of the first powers Mr Bush got, the ability to declare martial law without Congressional approval. This is not an overnight thing, they have been working at it for decades and have made more progress in the last 3 years than in the last 30 years. Don't be mistaken and think that it couldn't happen in the USA. We will still carry the lable - Democracy.

beareaucratic losers who partially got us where we are today. The rank and file federal police called FBI are just a little better trained than your average cop. Big deal. They can suck me for all I care.

To see them show up at my door knowing what I know about the way I conduct myself would be vindication that I wasn't paranoid--that the world has really come apart at the seams. If they stop at my door because I post something over the top on this board, I will know we are picking up speed in the slide toward fascism, oppression, and an evil future for my child. What can I tell my daughter except that this is what you get when you don't pay attention as a society to your freedom and protect your liberties.

I will tell my daughter that life is worth living even in a repressive society and that if she works hard for good she may even see a turn for the better because of the people.

94. Agent Mike - check out this editorial from the Mpls Star Tribune
http://www.startribune.com/stories/561/4931361.html

But as Monday's New York Times notes, law enforcement is no longer limiting itself to such crude protest-containment measures. A surer strategy is to scare would-be protesters from showing up at a political event in the first place. This seems to be the idea behind a recent rash of FBI visits to citizens who may be planning to participate in protests at the GOP convention starting Aug. 30.

FBI investigators deny any wish to silence lawful dissent. Their sole purpose, they insist, is to avert possible violence by protesters in New York. But their door-knocking campaign has worked well to intimidate Bush opponents who had been inclined to join convention protests. As one woman visited by six FBI agents a few weeks back told the Times, the agents were trying "to let us know that 'hey, we're watching you.' "

What's wrong with being watched? Nothing, unless you believe the Constitution's free-expression guarantee means what it says. The assurance conveys no mere suggestion to government, but an absolute obligation: It must bow to citizens' rights to say what they wish, to whom they wish, where they wish. Anything that dampens, muffles or muzzles such protest flouts the most fundamental of American promises.

You'd better check out that editorial staff before they start giving people ideas about free speech.

(sorry for getting off topic here.)

How much longer will we tolerate being penned up like animals, for having the gumption to say what we want? How much longer do we tolerate "Free Speech Zones"? When do we say enough is enough?

Wether it is coming from the Democratic side or the Republican side it is WRONG, and unfortunately both sides are guilty of stealing our rights.

I am for non-violence and I will always remain so. But we are only a few steps away from totalitarian rule if not already there.
