Capital Gang - L.A. Times poll will show Bustamante 35% to Arnold 22%
This thing is moving our way fast!

Earlier LAT poll showed 5 point margin on recall - 50% to 45%.

Simon vote will go mostly to McClintock, and strengthen his campaign against Arnold.

2. The Bushistas were humiliated in Louisiana...
Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 07:07 PM by rfranklin
and it may well happen again in CA.

(Republicans tried to take advantage of the unique Louisiana election laws by running three candidates to deny Landrieu the 50% needed to avoid a runoff election. Landrieu triumphed over Terrell in a very close runoff on December 8th, despite heavy stumping for Terrell by big name Republicans like Bush, Cheney and Lott.)http://www.evote.com/elections_section/results/states/LA.asp

Which is another one you can add to the list of elections that the Republicans couldn't win on their programs, so they had to cheat, as they did with the phoney impeachment, the 2000 appointment, and are now trying with this recall. Not to mention the outrageous redistricting scams in CO and TX.

7. No Davis defeat of recall
NO CHANCE. Sorry. Wish it would happen to show that Americans are tired of the Rupugs fucking with Democracy, but there are so many candidates, one will appeal to almost everyone, leading to a certain defeat for Davis.

Look at the polls. A pipe dream. I mean, the numbers continue to get worse for Davis at the benefit of Bustamonte.

Whether Davis wins or loses, I think the speech was a success, and Clinton should get some credit.

10. From Your Lips to Zeus's Ear
The recall mechanism needs fixing, the numbers of signatures, the availability of partisan abuse, and the expense. An office-holder who was elected fairly and has not committed malfeasance shouldn't be subjected to this.

DAVIS's big crime appeared at first to be "poor personality". But the more I've seen of him my impression is of a kind of goofy endearingness, and his wife comes across with heartwrenching sincerity.

BUSTA outpolling Ahhhnuld would be a blast without saddling him with possibly built-in insolubility of the situation. At least he's willing to try. He seems overbearing and petty. When he was asked about his relationship with DAVIS he said, "It's about as good as anybody's in Sacramento."

6. a little rant about Cap Gang
Ok, I watch this because I like Mark Shields but
lately this looks like the not-so-live gang that
can't shoot straight. Novak should realize he's
much past retirement, Kate knows less than any
small town League of Women Voter president, Al
just nods usually like a bobble-head doll and
Mark on occasion thinks fast enough to throw a
curve ball at Bob. Either bring on some new blood
or bring on a nurse to the set for the transfusions.
Oh, I forgot Margaret, who sold her soul for
work with this administration.

21. Is 7% "a lot"?
http://tinyurl.com/kzoh

From the LA Times poll...

"The actor won the support of 39% of likely Republican voters, 20% of independents and 7% of Democrats polled. McClintock received 21% of the Republican vote, Simon received 12% and Ueberroth 10%."

Also, Simon had only 6% total, so his dropping
out wdnt affect the numbers much.

11. My premature celebration: if this ends good,......
I love the way that repuke Issa got his head handed to him. He spent two million dollars to bankroll the recall, and got pushed overboard almost as soon as it qualified for the ballot. Oh! Sweet!
Politics is such a good spectator game. It even beats chess for the number of possible moves. As General Patton said: "God help me, I love it!"

17. These polls are making me dizzy
The very "first" one had Bustamante ahead by several points; and then, bingo, just a couple days ago CNN/MSNBC were siting a "Field Poll" that showed Arnold at like 23% or something and Bustamante at 18%.........so, what the hell is the truth??? Could it be that the LA Times is just canvasing the LA area??? All I know is that the Dems can take NOTHING for granted and have to pull out all stops in taking this thing on.

19. Actually...
It was a Field Poll that had Bustamante ahead earlier. And now a L.A. Times poll confirms it. I think the other poll showing Arnold ahead was in error and counter to the actual trend.

Field polls are very accurate.
