There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see that bush is an idiot
i cannot forgive bush supporters who've maybe started to turn against him or abandon him. where was your brain when you supported this idiot? did you really not see that he is an unqualified, dangerous IDIOT? i don't see how you could NOT have seen it.

do bush supporters simply tune out all the negative truths about their man? don't they get embarrassed when he doesn't understand reporter's questions? don't they get angry that one thousand of our best and brightest sons and daughters died in vain over bush's lies?

don't they see a contradiction in his statements: 'the american people are safer' and 'we are a nation in danger'. which is it idiot? don't bush lovers see that he is truly brain damaged from years of being a party animal playboy jerkoff?

if you can deliberately turn off your negative reactions to idiocy, then you deserve what you get. but we don't. the rest of us who knew instantly that he was an idiot, we don't deserve this.

if you can't see that bush is an idiot, then you yourself are worse than an idiot. you are an unforgivable idiot who does not deserve to vote. and you do not deserve the bill of rights and the constitution freedoms we now enjoy while we can.

Mr. and Mrs. bush supporter, your man is an idiot, don't you be one too.

1. I Understand Your Frustration
but try to forgive a few of the ignorant. I for one am more than happy to see people "wake up" and I feel it is counterproductive to further punish them for their former ignorance and apathy. Welcome them to reality and keep trying to chip away at the rest of *'s base.

5. Do you think we should have a progressive tax system at all?
Welcome to DU johnboy, though your stay may be a short one.

The fact is, that when ALL taxes are included, not just income tax, people across all tax brackets pay nearly the same portion of their income, specifically 14% - 19%.

I disagree that those with higher incomes are being "punished". Taxes are not punishment, nor is paying a fair share punishment. We now have an annual deficit of $600B thanks to the mismanagement of this administration. Now you might very well argue that spending needs to be cut (and again, Bush has increased spending at 3 times the rate the fiscally sane Clinton did), but taxes should also be equitably paid.

Do you believe it is fair to ask the well off to pay LESS than everyone else? Because that is exactly what a "consumption tax" will do. The majority of people's purchases are daily necessities, not discretionary spending.

6. You have to be kidding, right?

OK fine, so you worked hard to go through college. Guess what? So did I. I still have $40K of loans in payback status. What bearing does that have on what taxes you should pay? Good for you for doing charity work too, but what bearing does that have?
People that always whine about the poor disadvantaged rich people really piss me off. It's a very simple principle: if you need water, you don't go to the desert. Kerry isn't talking about taxing people because he can get away with it, he's talking about taxing them so that they will pay their share of taxes. Rich people in fact DO use government services, quite often at a higher rate than poor people-for example, the court system is entirely funded by taxes, and court cases are dominated by the rich. Why on earth should rich people get a free ride at the expense of poor people? Why should rich people make money off of poor people's backs?

7. You do know
that Kerry just wants to roll them back to the level during the Clinton years (when the economy was booming), don't you?

for your housing, food, and medical care.

Won't that be great!

9. So your bank-account is more important
than having a competent leader, an adult who can admit and learn from his mistakes? a President who is not an ignorant, reckless fool?

You say you worked hard to get where you are yet you support a useless aristocrat who never worked a day in his life just because you think it will net you a few thousand dollars?

11. You could use some knowledge, johnboy112.
You only paid PART of your way through college and Medical School. The rest of your college and Medical School expenses were paid by the State and Federal governments, otherwise known as taxpayers. This is a "gift" that working people and corporations gave to you so that you could better yourself.

You are know expected to "give back" to society so that others can better themselves. It's part of assuming your responsibility. When much has been given to you (health, intelligence, and education), then much is expected from you.

Grow up. Stop being a leech and a mooch on society.

13. Speaking of ignorance...
The wealthiest are not being taxed more because they are a minority. They are being taxed more because part of the reason they have so much more is that their wealth enables them to take greater advantage of our societal infrastructure. In essence, those who use and benefit the most from our economical and governmental systems and infrastructure are being asked to pay a little more to support those same systems. They are also being asked to shoulder a little more of the burden because the percentage of income that they pay in taxes impacts them much less than it does those farther down the economic food chain. The primary idea behind a progressive tax structure is that people are taxed according to their ability to pay those taxes while still maintaining a reasonable quality of life.

The problem with flat tax rates even the sales tax you suggest, is that it impacts the lower classes much more heavily than the wealthy. Put simply, even at 1% a tax is going to impact a poor family much more than it's going to impact a wealthy family even if it's just 1% sales tax.

Furthermore it would do nothing to prevent fat cats from hoarding what they make and spending in locales with much more favorable tax structures if they were to pay taxes at all.

15. Hmmm...
By the way how do i use the infrastructure more? Do i drive more miles in my car or is it the fact that my children do not attend public school? I do not see how i am using the infrastructure more than someone who makes 170,000 dollars or 90,000 dollars?

I've been wrong about many things, and regretted things as well. if i had voted for bush i'd be regretful right now and voting for anybody but him. but the repubs aren't running anyone else.

i guess you could call me a flip flopper.

14. Janeane was right. And so are you
supporting Bush is a character flaw. How else to explain shoring up an incompetent who has neither the intellect or the fortitude to lead our country. Bush is the man Einstein warned us about: ignorant and arrogant, the worst combination. His leadership is ruining our country.

17. well, if we DON"T forgive, we fail to accept converts.
And we need to do that. For one thing, keep in mind that BushCo are invertebrate liars. Everything that comes out of their mouth is a falsehood in some way. But they harp on memes that seem to make some sort of sense. If you are not paying attention, the memes slip into your subconscious and voila! instant sheeple.

I dont' think you blame the brainwashed. You instead help them to know its ok to think for themselves. If you jump on them when they first cross over and are just beginning to see how they were manipulated, slapping them in the face is not a nice how do you do.

In fact, if you're going to blame them, then you also have to blame those who voted for Nader, and democrats who didn't bother to vote.

See, the idea is to INCREASE the number of people in the big tent, not culling out the ones who are newbies.
