Do bumper stickers do any good?
Im going to pick up some Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers for my folks, and maybe myself, tomorrow...

...but I wonder if they do any good as adverstising or to motivate people to vote for or consider Kerry (or any other candidate).

Any serious political types have any opinions on this, or know if there is anything on thisl..how effecitve bumper stickers are?

2. Yes, here in MD people put Erlich for Governor up in the back windows
of their cars and they are all over the place. People just assumed he would win because of all the signs. He did win, but we have some touch screens and I heard about some hanky panky the day of the election. I hope there was no election fraud, but who knows!

3. I'm not sure
I heard the Kerry campaign say once that 1 bumper sticker is worth $500 in advertising. How they got that figure, I have no clue.

That means my 6 stickers are saving them $2,400 a month. :bounce:

16. Handing out bumper stickers
at our county fair. One woman said her husband wouldn't let her put a Kerry sticker on the bumper as they had a new car and didn't want it damaged. I told her to put it in her back window and just turn it over when she parked her car. It's not as good as on the bumper but it is visable. I saw one in a back window yesterday. Oh, by the way, the woman took a sticker after I told her that.

6. i think it does because
people are sheep, they tend to stay in the comfort of group think, and the more they see the kerry bumpersticker the more they can group think with kerry supporters. if all they see are bush/cheney then i could see others easily being swayed to that ticket

9. I have three...
"Defend America...Defeat Bush"
"Your Civil Liberties...Don't Leave Home Without Them"
"Hatred is Not a Family Value"

If I lived in a liberal area, I wouldn't bother. There are enough Rethugs and Fundies around here to make me want to aggravate them.

15. They do good for me
I live in Wyoming, the reddest of red states by many people's estimates. When I see other vehicles with Kerry/Edwards stickers on them it gives me a sense that I am not in quite so much trouble as I feared I might be.

Richard Ray - Jackson Hole, WY

(in Wyoming it's well known that Teton County, where Jackson lies, has most of the money, most of the trees and all of the Democrats in the whole state).

17. All I know is
I haven't seen even one Bush/Cheney 2004 bumpersticker yet!! By this time in 2000, I was gagging over how many I encountered.

The tide may be turning. Hope springs eternal.

21. I wish I could say that.
I see more Bush/Cheney and Coleman stickers than Kerry, at this point. I do expect that to change, though.

23. There was a time you couldn't swing a dead cat
without hitting half a dozen of them. I live in a fairly conservative area and I haven't seen any. I don't think that means these people won't vote for the dastardly duo, but I think they are reluctant to advertise it which is quite possibly a step in the right direction.

18. i don't think they do much
they make the driver feel better, so that's ok.

in seattle, everyone is already for kerry (80%), so its preaching to the choir. however, the bush stickers really single you out as a tool. and they're mostly on old people's cars, so i'm hoping some of them die off before their absentee ballots arrive.

24. I think the help with getting people to recognize a name
Most people don't follow politics as much as we do. These same people usually feel compelled to vote, especially in a presidential election. The more times a person sees a name, the more they will remember. I think maybe the bumper stickers are even more effective in the House, Senate, and local races b/c even fewer people are following those.

25. i actually have 8 in my car windows
the one on the driver's side back window reads
"democray not theocracy: dump bush 2004"

the one on the passenger's side back window reads
"your child may be an honors student, but she'll be paying bush's debt the rest of her life"

then there are two rows of stickers in the back window. the upper row has:
"free thought--free speech--free ideas"
"kerry/edwards 2004"
"public morality through compassion"

the bottom row reads
"fingerhut-US Senate 2004"
"doing my part to piss off the religious right"
"dissent is the highest form of patriotism-Thomas Jefferson"

i'm not sure i'm going to put any others on the car...

28. What I have
1 DU sticker, Bill Press's "BUSH MUST GO!", and 1 John Kerry and 1 Kerry/Edwards sticker here in OH. So far, not one finger blasted at me, nasty looks, or even tailgating. I have seen a large number of stickers in my area in the past week alone.

30. also in ohio
i was next to a large ford SUV last week, when the gentleman driving asked about my support for kerry, then asked me why i was driving a foreign car (i have a honda civic), i told him that i bought it for it's excellent fuel efficiency.

he then thanked me for putting americans out of work. he pulled away before i could tell him that my car was from marysville, outside of columbus. i wanted to follow but could not.

thus far, that's the only negative from my stickers. lots of waving tho!

31. Many People have that damn misconception
about Honda vehicles. Hell, if I'm not mistaken, even our *dear* governor Taft bad mouthed Honda once.

Honda Cars=Made in the USA.

Honda Owned by=Japanese man who spends most of his time in OHIO, and even lives here I think.

Funny how ignorant some people can be. Oh well, he was a republican neo-con, he has an excuse for the lack of brains and insight.
