1. I don't know why either.
If I want to listen to a bunch of crap, I'll turn on Rush or Hannity.

And he is funny in the movies he's been in...but I don't really want to hear him on AAR.

4. Yuck, I hate Ben Stein, he is so disgusting.
:puke:

I guess the repubs have to parade the only person in their entire party with half a brain. I hated Win Ben Stein's Money, Ben is such a sexist asshole, I hope his spot in hell is extra hot.

6. But why is Al even giving him air time unless it's to do to him
what he did to John Stossels a few weeks back.

That's one reason why he's on.

9. The reason?
He's an ex-Nixon worker.

I liked him until he flipped Huffington the bird during a debate.

Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 01:33 PM by Richardo
...or at least they were when "Rush Limbaugh is a big fat etc etc" came out.

I'm sure he's going to ask Ben whether he REALLY thinks liberals hate America, which is what he asserts in his new book.

18. Ben says he's a rabid environmentalist
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 01:46 PM by Monica_L
Doesn't think Bush* has done anything much to harm the environment.

Franken is countering him with mining and timber industries going onto public lands...

Ben says he'll vote for Nader if he's on the ballot.

20. no, he's trying to convince those that listen to his tripe...
to vote for ralph. he is a shill, just as the repugs signing nader's petitions are shills. they have no intention of voting for nader, just the intention of getting YOU to vote for nader.

22. He isn't that bad
I wasn't that happy to hear he was gonna be on. But he is pretty funny, and it is obvious he and Al are friends...and despite it's short length, the debate between them wasn't that bad...if he's gonna have Republicans on I'd rather listen to Ben Stein than alot of others I can think of.

Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 01:52 PM by UdoKier
I can't stand him or his annoying voice. blech.

I'm trying so hard to love Franken's show. He doesn't do it for me like Randi or Malloy.

*Wow. Stein sez he's voting for Nader. Now I've heard everything. Still can't stand him, though...

26. Stein is NOT voting for Nader. He's saying that and giving Nader money to
HELP Bush.

Doesn't anyone remember Stein sitting WITH Poppy and Babs during the 2000 convention? Shit, folks, how can ANYONE be dumb enough to fall for the crap Stein is trying to pull?

25. Not a word about Stein's shameless "Why Liberals Hate America" book.
If you're not going to expose his hateful propaganda, why have Stein on at all? Stein is poisoning political discourse like his corporate idols poison the environment, and Al didn't say shit about it.

If they're friends, woop-dee-doo. Be friends off the air. Don't let guys like Ben Stein spout their conservative bullshit on AAR unless you're willing to slap them, Al.

28. I haven't really looked at the book--but I
figured the title was a joke--you know like his books on money (How to Ruin Your Financial Life) where you are supposed to do the actual opposite of what the book recommends?

I didn't know the book was serious--I guess I just only see Stein as a comedian--so I thought the whole thing was a joke....bummer.
