I am sooo sick of this terror bullshit!! You want to know what terror is?
I have noticed this morning that all the Fake cable news channels are not talking about the bad economic numbers anymore. The numbers got two days of play and now it's back to terror all the time. Why? Because Bushs' numbers on terror are the only numbers that are slightly higher than Kerrys'.

How does terrorism affect me? It does not. What does affect me is losing my job to outsourcing, sitting at my kitchen table frozen with fear wondering when the house will be re-possesed. What does affect me me is losing health insurance, or being denied treatment by some HMO who could care less about my health or the quality of care that they give. What does affect me is having a clean environment that I can safely raise my children in. What does affect me is having a government that will stand up for my vote against the special corporate interests who are out to use and abuse me.

Those are just some of the things that affect me. Issues that this pResident has chosen to do nothing about. Issues that this pResident has chosen to be on the side of those who wish to terrorize me.

I am so sick of this terror war crap. There is a terror war being waged against the American people. Unfortunately the terrorists are our elected leaders and their political contributors.

22. Absolutely!
Sorry took so long to reply, was working away from the 'puter.

Yes, I think we have a lot of talented writers here on the DU. And a lot of good, critical thinking. We need to get our messages out beyond the community here at the DU. Letters to editors are a great way to get the info the media is sweeping under the rug out in the light of day. Not enough people know all the BS that goes on because they get their 'news' from corporate controlled sources with vested interests in pushing certain agendas.

We have made a difference already. Many people (both sides) and media types read the DU. That is good, and helpful. But there are a lot of good folks out there in America who are going with the flow because they are not getting good info. We need to take every avenue we can to get through to them. We need to let them know they are not alone with their troubling doubts about the course our nation is heading. We need to let them know where the resources are for learning more than the corporate media wants them to know.

Write. Write often. Be a resource others can come to for learning and sharing. We are America unless we abdicate our responsibilities. The nation needs for all of us to speak truth to power so power will be responsive to the best interests of America.

12. It wasn't terror that caused 911.
It was negligence that allowed it to happen.

I think this so-called war on terror is nothing but a diversion from the illegal stuff that this group of thugs is pulling over on us.

It's like someone who runs a bank, leaves the doors open and lets the robbers just walk in and take everyone's money. It's at that point that they force through new laws requiring more police and security. But why should we do anything? I mean they left the damn doors open. It's not like we need anything new.

One could come up with more analogies. Like the banker's reasons for letting the robbers in. He's really doing something terrible and needed a coverup. Or he wants to start his own security business so he can pull off the biggest heist in history. Or he sends his security forces to other banks to steal their money, instead of going through the proper authorities, to locate the robbers.

40. Funny you mention a bank.
I was in a Wells Fargo bank last week. They have TV's on all the time, ALWAYS on FAUX. The headline on Faux was screaming 'TERROR THWARTED' and the woman standing next to me in line read it and started freaking out! She was starting to panic 'oh no, have we had another terror warning/attack?' The look on her face - pure fright. It works. People fall for it. I had to explain to her that first off, the story was about Heathrow airport in ENGLAND, not the US of A. This was all part of the outing of the man we had working for us inside al Qaeda. Then I had to explain that the terra lerts we had here in the states, in NYC, were actually based on information that was three to four years old. You should have seen the look on her face. One of those 'whadda you mean they've been lying to us?' looks. You can bet I told her YES.

I never watch FAUX unless it's forced on me while waiting in line at the bank. I've heard of the crap they pull, but seeing it for myself, wow. All they had to do was have that screaming headline up there and people freaked out, without even knowing what was going on. I'm going to send the manager of the bank a copy of 'Outfoxed.'

has a bank of TV's in front of the walking machines(machines for walking?). At least one or more of those damn things is always turned to FOX.

I go swimming now just so I wont have to even look towards that propaganda. I have my TV programmed at home to never ever bring in FOX. MSNBC and CNN is about to suffer the same fate.

14. Who is the terrorist, anyway?
I saw the AP report on Bush's "mistake" in his speech last Thursday (perhaps more like Freudian slip?) and had to write a song... Here are the words:

Bushspeak
----------------
Words and Music by Jim Harper

I've heard it now, the truth is out,
August fifth, two thousand and four
The president said without a doubt
That he really knows the score

Chorus:

Said our President, George W. Bush,
"Our enemies never stop thinking,
about new ways to harm our country,
"And, neither," he said, "do we."
And he pledged right then and there,
In front of a crowd of news people,
To "never stop thinking about new ways
to harm our country and our people."...
That's what our President said.

While signing a bill for billions more
To keep up our war machine
He said plain truth for all to hear
As if it really was routine.

The President's spokesman backed it up
Said Scott McClellan of his own volition,
"The American people know this president
Speaks with clarity and conviction."

So now we know it's not the Moslems,
North Korea or the radical left
The ones who are true terrorists
Are sitting at their White House desks

If you would like to hear my other song, "Bush Has Got To Go"
Just go to http://www.jimharpermusic.com/music.html

Please share and enjoy!

21. YAY! (Have you heard this?)
Welcome. Loved your mp3.

I heard this tune, and was absolutely floored. So here it is, with chords and all.

Bush It

words and music by Darryl Cherney

(A)(G)(A) First they went and stole the election
(B) The Supreme Court went and made the selection
(D) The corporations gave the direction
They said (A) "Bush it" (G) (A)

(A) He went and hired his daddy's staff
(B) And few guys from Nixon's just for a laugh
(D) Now the world is his oyster to split in half
(A) Bush it (G) (A)

(A) Now though he'd never been to a foreign land
And a (B) map of the world he'd never understand
(D) Right up his back went the puppeteer's hand
(A) Bush it

(D) Bush it--the old President's son
(B) Bush it--that's the way it's done
(D) Bush it--for all of your friends
(E) Who knows where this whole thing's gonna (A) end (G)(A)

Then someone goes and topples the towers
Took years to build destroyed it in hours
The FBI and CIA said give us more powers
Bush it

Then the puppeteer says hey I got a plan
Though the guys were all Saudis lets bomb Afganistan
Then camp out with our friends in Pakistan
Bush it

But that wasn't the end to these tragic attacks
Some used the U.S. mail to send anthrax
Kinda funny how it went just to Democrats
Bush it

Bush it--The old President's boy
Bush it--He got a brand new toy
Bush it--Down old Texas way
Hey now look at Georgie Junior play

Vice President Cheney meets with Enron of course
On how to manage our oil resource
Give 'em rolling blackouts and a secret task force
We'll Bush it

The Enron goes bankrupt after stealing us blind
But they left a trail of campaign cash behind
But when asked for his records Cheney big time declined
He said Bush it.

Now before 9-1-1 Bush wasn't too bright
Did Osama Bin Laden show him the light?
They're both CIA boys and they know how to fight
They Bush it

Bush it--To the limit and then
Bush it--And Bush it again
Bush it--And make no mistake
There is just so much that we can take

He's got two drunken daughters and a drug addict niece
But that doesn't matter, he'll just call up the police
And say you can keep all the others, but I want their release
Bush it

Now he did booze and coke and he doesn't deny it
But he says that he quit and he's on a new diet
Now he passes out on pretzels--does anyone buy it?
Bush it

Now George is an artist and he's trying to sell it
He's a bit of a devil--doesn't think we can tell it
But it's piled up so high it's hard not to smell it
Bush-it

Bush it--The new President's song
Bush it--You know he can't be wrong
Bush it--Out of the President's way
What more can a real American say?

Bush It! Bush It! Bush It!
