1. Bush was non-combat and AWOL. Why don't they mention that?

2. They've got Wonkette under the Repug side?
I thought she was an equal-opportunity political gossip blogger.
Heck, she has a link to Moveon.org on her website.
:wtf:

3. No mention that Mr. Cleland left three limbs in 'Nam.
No Purple Hearts either? How can that be?

5. All the major assholes in the Republican party didn't serve.
The ones we respect to some extent(McCain, Hagel, Dole) did serve.

8. Good point.
If someone with McCain's background comes out and says Kerry's service should be respected and that Kerry served well I think that speaks volumes for Kerry's service. The draft dodgers should STFU.

6. Interesting...
The majority of those listed, from both sides, have no military service. Of those listed as having served, how many have actual combat experience? Kerry, Powell, Armitage, Clark, and a few others.

I find it interesting, also, that none of Kerry's detractors have a spit of military experience between them yet they feel qualified to comment on the quality and conduct of Kerry's service. Hmmm.

7. The article claims that Tim Russert, Chris Matthews, and Wolf Blitzer are
nonpartisan or left-of-center pundits. I have a feeling that many people here at DU have a little problem with those descriptions.

9. Bring back the draft for everyone.
It is the only way we will save ourselves. I have been in the military (peacetime). But even in a peacetime military you get a very healthy respect for what a single machine-gun bullet can do. You also learn the only thing a military does well is destroy things and kill people. I firmly believe if we had a genuine draft (no passes, no deferments, not even for the "handicapped") we would not be in Iraq today. You also learn in the military that if you go into someone else's country with a gun in your hand you had better be able to explain what you are doing there.
