Yikes! A new conspiracy theory!
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 06:53 PM by Keirsey
Edit: original post deleted

Sorry to have troubled you. Having not been exposed to any conspiracy theories, aside from "JFK", the current political ones catch my attention. My post was a request for help in sorting the wheat from the chaff.

F 9/11 was a wake-up call to this very apolitical person who hadn't watched tv in 10 years. If it wasn't on the Google News top stories page, I didn't know about it.

I'm still not watching television, but I am reading a lot of political books that have been published in the past year, and doing a lot of internet research. Still, it will take a long time to catch up with the rest of you.

Thanks for all the information that the DUers provide. That, too, is helping with my education.

5. Let's just say I've had it up to here with conspiracy theories.
Sometimes, things are just what they seem. Not everything has some secret ulterior motive.

8. There are many conspiracies of a political nature.
To keep things simple:

President John F. Kennedy is murdered in Dallas Texas.
One of his last national security action memoranda ordered American pullout from South Vietnam.
Within three days, President Lyndon B Johnson orders America to support the government of South Vietnam to its fullest.

Gee. That's not conspiracy. That's fact.

You might check this thread for a few links to related matters:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2173186&mesg_id=2173186&page=

Here are a few more "things that just happen to be" that make good subjects for study and discussion which are the result of criminal conspiracy:

• Vietnam
• Guatemala
• Chile
• Watergate
• October Surprise
• Beirut Disaster/Grenada Invasion
• El Salvador
• Reagan Survives Hinckley and Bush
• Voodoo Economics
• INSLAW/Promis
• Haiti
• Iraq-gate / Banca Nazionale del Lavoro arms
• BCCI International Money Laundering for Terrorists & Intelligence Community
• Savings & Loan scandal in general and Silverado in particular
• Iran-contra Guns/Drugs/Martial Law
• Panama Invasion
• Gulf War I Glaspie Gives Go-Ahead
• Selection 2000 Shreds US Constitution
• Tax Cuts for UltraRich
• Criminal Justice Department
• Suicidal Environmental Policy
• ENRON Energy Policy
• 9-11 Criminal Negligence, at best; Treason, most likely
• Illegal Iraq Invasion

BTW: One name runs through all of the above -- from the JFK assassination to the Iraq -- George Herbert Walker Bush.

BTW: A hearty welcome to DU, Keirsey! Glad to hear you've had the TV off.

9. And before GHWB,
there was Prescott Bush (war profiteer, Hitler financier). And in addition to the current head of the Buch Mafioso, there are a number of other Bushes who have had their fair share of feeding at the public trough illegally.

Nazis in the Attic

part 6

By Randy Davis

GEORGE HERBERT WALKER BUSH

...Like Nixon, George Bush was deeply involved with supporting the Nazis in the Republican's closet. In fact, support for the Nazis was a Bush family tradition which goes back more than six decades and, once again, to Allen Dulles.

Loftus and Aarons write: "The real story of George Bush starts well before he launched his own career. It goes back to the 1920s, when the Dulles brothers and the other pirates of Wall Street were making their deals with the Nazis. . . ."

THE BUSH-DULLES-NAZI CONNECTION

"George Bush's problems were inherited from his namesake and maternal grandfather, George Herbert 'Bert' Walker, a native of St. Louis, who founded the banking and investment firm of G. H. Walker and Company in 1900. Later the company shifted from St. Louis to the prestigious address of 1 Wall Street. . . .

"Walker was one of Hitler's most powerful financial supporters in the United States. The relationship went all the way back to 1924, when Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist, was financing Hitler's infant Nazi party. As mentioned in earlier chapters, there were American contributors as well.

12. Poppy In The Middle Once Again!
Edited on Sun Aug-08-04 11:40 PM by goclark
Edit: Oops , I meant to reply to Octafish:

Your post nails Poppy right in the middle of all that has been bad about our government.

Of course, with my tin hat on real tight, I truly believe that Poppy is Deep Throat. Who else has continued to keep the reigns of power, behind the scenes with Dimson, for all these years?

Thank you for adding more to my list.

Keep it coming!

10. Welcome to DU, Keirsey.
I've found that this is the best place to get good information. I was skeptical when I first joined, but I've found all of the posts to be relevant and informative. There are a lot of opinions here at times, but I just check the breaking news a lot. Although, my opinions don't differ from others here anyway and sometimes it does help to know I'm not alone.

Nice to meet you. :)

15. The term "conspiracy theory" is offensive to people
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 12:19 AM by Stephanie
It's offensive to people like us, who are interested in facts. "Conspiracy theory" is a term of derision sneered at us by the uninformed and the guilty.

What did David Brooks call us today? The Far Left Whackos or something? Compared us to the John Birchers of the old days.

I don't know what you had posted that you chose to title "conspiracy theory" but it's a sure way to piss people off here, people who've put hours into research and study, people who do so because they'd like to have a democracy in place in this country, and not leave it in ruins for their children.
