1. The election is a referendum on Bush's performance, not Kerry's

Vietnam era testimony or any of that.

All the focus on these attacks on Kerry is designed to lead undecided and "uneasy Republicans" away from reflecting on shrub's performance as steward of the nation. Even among Republicans, it's difficult to reflect on the last 4 years and conclude "everything's going just great."

The election is a referendum on Bush, who has a record as president, not Kerry.
