Clinton to appear on 'Daily Show,' skip 'SNL'
Bill Clinton has been all over television promoting his new book. But one show he won’t be visiting is “Saturday Night Live.”

But far from going into retreat, Clinton will sit down with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central’s “Daily Show” Monday at 11 p.m. EDT, presumably to say more about his best-selling memoir, “My Life,” as well as global affairs and the presidential race.

This appearance comes on the heels of Clinton’s guest shot on CBS’ “Late Show” Tuesday, when he brought a copy of his book as a birthday gift for host David Letterman’s 9-month-old son. Meanwhile, Clinton gave Letterman a rare ratings win over NBC’s “Tonight Show,” delivering the biggest audience for the “Late Show” since last March, when Janet Jackson drew a crowd for her first post-Super Bowl interview.

Fueled by Clinton’s ongoing publicity blitz, his book has sold more than 1.5 million copies since its June 22 release.

1. Good on Both Counts!
I can't wait to see his appearance on TDC, but I'm glad to hear he's skipping SNL. I'm not usually one to complain about respectability, decorum, dignity, etc., but this campaign season is deadly serious - literally - and I'd prefer not seeing our last elected president cavorting with whoever constitutes the cast of SNL presently. The Daily Show, however, is a different matter, having acquired the aura of honest media reporting; I'd be proud to have Bill Clinton grace TDC with his presence.

2. i'm glad, while he would have been funny on SNL he is still President
and it would be seen too much as "lowering" himself. especially since he still has so much power and influence around the world to do good that he can't let it go to waste.

the Daily Show is perfect for him though. can't wait to see it.

3. Good move.
Appearing on "Saturday Night Live" isn't very dignified for a politician.

4. Jesse Jackson
read "Green Eggs and Ham" on SNL-one of the funniest skits ever.
Dignified? No. Endearing and funny? Yes.
