If/When (take your pick) a Democrat wins next November,
do you think he will bring federal charges against the neocons? Which ones? What charges? And if any are convicted will he allow them to go to prison or can/will he pardon them?

1. Nope, every Democrat will chicken out
I'll bet anyone $20 that if a Democrat wins the election, they will stay far away from even mentioning any of the Bush clan's crimes. Now ask me why.

Atlaeast 40% supports bush, and im sure several who will vote on the democratic nominee still support bush in certain questions

4. Of course not. They'd be scared out of their wits to even approach such
an idea. I doubt even Kucinich would try to do it, & he's the only one of the bunch that has real integrity.

As for the other members of the pack of sellouts & cowards, I doubt they even DREAM about doing anything like what you describe. At least Kucinich would probably very much LIKE to do something like that. He doubtless understands that the case for bringing the neocons to justice is a powerful one.

6. Can we imagine a scenario where it might happen?
Say, if some key people start talking?

5. While there might not be any charges ..
I bet Dean, Kucinich or Sharpton would do some major "bean spilling" about just what had been done by the neocons, and what they did to reverse such things. Thing is it could not be about anything concerning national security without seeming "treasonous".

7. Nope don't think any arrests
But I'll settle for getting what this administration is hiding out in the open especially the 28 pages and hopefully an independent commission with teeth to investigate 9-11.

9. oh please, Dean would do no such thing
Edited on Fri Aug-22-03 02:54 PM by WhoCountsTheVotes
Give me a break. Besides, that would ruin his centrist image.

On edit: I removed my gratutitous attack on Dean's aristocratic heritage, since I'm trying to tone down my rhetoric, considering where I am.

11. I bet you that when Dean wins
everytime he reverses one of the mad cowboys policies, we will hear about it, unless it is a covert thingy, unlike dumbya and crew who "out" CIA agents.

8. Old news in politics is no news

No. There's nothing in it for a politician to go after other guilty politicians when the election is over (cf Election 2000).

On edit: I always edit

10. Breaking News
POTUS doesn't bring Fed charges. That's the AG's job, and they need to have an investigation first. That could take years given the nature of the crimes.

12. Well, POTUS picks the AG
and you know who is the likely AG for a Democratic President, right?

Elliot Spitzer!! Oh, man.

13. No freaking way . . . .
He would basically be beginning his presidency with a civil war. And would probably face an impeachment hearing if the numbers in the House stay the same.

14. But what if
1. The Democrats re-take the House and the Senate
2. Elliot Spitzer is the AG
3. Insiders start talking

Come on, all of the above is quite possible.

15. I've looked at the maps
I don't think the House is in play until at least 2008. And in the Senate, I think more races are trending against us than for us.

I hate to break it to everyone, but nothing radical is going to happen in 2004 except on foreign policy (which is HUGE and reason enough to defeat Bush). But the House and Senate have been trending against us for a long time and redistricting is going to make it worse before it gets better.

I think the best we can hope for is win the White House, get back to 50-50 in the Senate (which would then gives us control) and keep the House at bay until "the emerging Democratic Majority" or whatever kicks in.

Basically, a rebuilding of overseas friendships and a tearing down of the Patriot Act is the most I am hoping for. I don't even think we can repeal the tax cuts at this point. At least not all at once.
