So...when does Ridge claim this information actually came to light?
Because here's the situation as I understand it:

* They have documentation of surveillance of some of these sites that took place several years ago.

* They don't have any clear sense of when this supposed attack was supposed to take place.

* The most recent piece of information they have is from six months ago.

So even if you believe what they're selling, there is absolutely no reason they needed to announce this alert in July instead of, say, January. The only thing that would make that make sense would be if they *just* discovered all of this information, like, last week, and went, "Oh my God! WE HAVE TO WARN THE PEOPLE!"

So far, I don't see anyone talking about exactly when this info came to light. Anyone know what they're saying about that?

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

1. Bushco says U. S. didn't know anything until last Thursday but a reporter
on CNN from Pakistan earlier today said Pakistan had been working on the information for WEEKS. There was an article linked here on DU about a week ago alleging that U.S. had requested or pressured Pakistan to make every effort to bring in a high profile Al Queda member before the end of July, specifically July 27,28, or 29th which of course coincided with the convention.

The arrest was announced in the press last Thursday morning. However since the actual details of the terrorist info is 6 months to 4 years old with no specific timeframe for an imminent attack, it seems quite possible that Pakistan made the arrest some time ago and was holding the info but was coordinating release of the info until now per U.S. request.

2. Ridge Van Winkle went to sleep three years ago and as he woke up
last week remembered the War on Terror and promptly raised the alert to Orange. With a wink and a nod from Bush and his surrogate wife Condi. Now, does that make every one feel better that our country is in good hands?
