I cannot find the image on the internet (not even at Sharpnack's www.sharptoons.com ), so I'll pull a Fiorello La Guardia and "read" it to you. The cartoon appears on the front cover of the Liberal Opinion Week of July 19, 2004. It is right below the Liberal Opinion banner and occupies a space of 5 x 6.5 inches of the cover's total 7.5 x 11 inches. It is a single frame cartoon in black-and-white. To the left of the frame caricatures of Kerry and Edwards hold up a sign that reads "Kerry/Edwards." On the far right edge of the frame is a TV camera, labeled "PRESS," aimed at Kerry and Edwards. In the center of the frame is a wild-eyed GOP elephant, jumping up and down, holding a very large sign (blocking the TV camera's shot of Kerry/Edwards) which reads, in very large letters, TERROR ALERT!
Sharpnack drew this cartoon at least two weeks (probably more) before Ridge's press conference announcing the latest terra-alert on Sunday (8/1). The GOPs reaction to a strong showing by Kerry/Edwards was so predictable that a cartoonist can publish a gem like this without fear of ridicule. In fact, the cartoonist, Joe Sharpnack, has more credibility now than the Bu$h regime.
