Lawrence Korb on AAR coming up next: he's got the goods on AWOL!
Edited on Tue Aug-03-04 08:08 AM by buycitgo
for those who haven't been following that raw site, and Paul Lukasiak's work (he/s done SEMINAL studies on the Florida fiasco, centering on obvious vote fraud in the panhandle), they're going to interview Korb, who the rawboys said will provide the cachet needed to force media to pay attention to the AWOL story

he was Asst SecDef under Reagan

he may be at the Center for American Progress now, so that might diminish his cred, but I don't think it should

will check, but wanted to get this up right away

from the rawstory site:

On Wednesday, the RAW STORY's research into President Bush's absent without leave status hit the national stage, being picked up by Air America. Our initial story, which documented that Bush had missed five months of Guard duty that he had never completed, was carried on the nascent liberal radio network's 10 p.m. news. But the story is about to get a whole lot bigger.

One of the nation's largest newspapers has begun an independent investigation into whether President Bush was AWOL from the Texas Air National Guard in 1972.

Last year, the paper won Pulitzer prizes in several categories. It is among the top five largest newspapers in the United States, with a daily circulation that exceeds one million readers, according to circulation figures released July 31, 2004.

Because the investigation is ongoing, RAW STORY is unable to divulge the name of the paper or more specific details. Other outlets are believed to be investigating the story as well.

anybody else wonder if this will die, like all the other stories do?

even if this paper, clearly the Times/Post/WSJ, right?, runs it.

ABB stories always sink in the mire of the non-existent LW echo chamber

1. he's on now......connection went
talking about how Bush SHOULD have been put on active duty!

for up to two years.....at LEAST six months

Riley: could he have gotten permission to miss?

LK: yes, but there's NO indication he did that. If you take the first three months of 73, there's NO indication he showed up for anything

No meetings at all in May/June of 72

PLEASE ask him WHY he stopped flying, and what the deal with missing the physical represents

2. Korb called 'Bushit' on Bush's 'Clinton devistated the military'
bullshit in the last election. He's called Bush an incompetent before.
He's got good credentials in my book.

3. he was in the Naval reserves for 20 years, and NEVER
went more than a month without making meetings up

talking about destroyed records, and Lukasiak sending them to him

Korb: I can't tell if he got permission, theoretically. but if he DIDN'T, he KNOWS that the units he was in, particularly during the war, they'd have "put your butt back on duty", meaning NAM!

6. this is inFURIATING
he's already OFF!

they do a TERRIBLE job with some of these interviews, clearly alotting only a certain amount of time, then sticking to them like, uh, Bush does

why do they DO that?

they have a good guest, then kick him off, like right now, with 10 minutes before the hour. they do that ALL the time

then they go with some stupid bit, or lame phone calls, when they could put the interviews to much better use

so THERE!

didn't anybody stream up for this

Korb was very good, but they only gave him, what, five minutes??????

8. So have CNN, MSNBC, FOX, and the networks covered this?
After all, the "liberal" media ate up and reported all of the crap the the RNC fed them about Kerry's medals.

I say we all send them a link to this story and DEMAND they start doing their jobs.

9. I did not realize that those microfiche we were told were destroyed
Edited on Tue Aug-03-04 08:09 AM by Marianne
have not been destroyed at all and that they were "reconstructed" according to Korb.

This is new evidence that supports the information that has been out there for almost four years that Bush is a cowardly AWOL CIC. So far he has managed to slip out of it--with ridiculous claims that he has released all his records, or he forgot and no one called him on it, except the Boston Globe, early on after the selection of this stupid man by the corrupt five on the Supreme Court.

Marty Heldt was the first to come up with the astounding suspicions after doing much research and receiving much by requesting documents that previously were not available to the people. He and Paul shared information over these years--yet no one wanted to touch it with a ten foot poll and it is a shame. Here is a coward,an AWOL man who is responsible for the horrible deaths of almost one thousand soldiers he sent to fight a fraudulent war just so Cheney could get Halliburton in there first and formost and the Carlyle group of his daddy, could make lots and lots of more money to add to the Bush bank account. Here is the ugly face of the priviledged and the sense of entitlement a Bush believes is his right--thumb your nose at the military because Poppy will bail him out and pull strings to cover up an AWOL, drunk and cocaine sniffing son. Then, ta da--the baby Jesus arrives and everything he did is erased and forgiven and he can dress up , like an ass of a clown, in a pilot's costume and stage a landing on the SS Lincoln

No one still called him on it. I can only shake my head while my heart is heavy mourning for the loss of the lives of the tens of thousands he murdered with his faking the reasons for the war and thousands he caused to be maimed, blind, missing limbs, psychological basket cases. I would hope someone would arrest him for his crimes, but he, entitled once more, and priveledged is above the law.

How this could happen needs to never be forgotten. He was allowed to lie and lie without few persons of record challenging him.

Bush is a blight, a fungus growth on our once proud nation. He should be impeached -- for treason and for abuse of power and incessant lying to his own people about serious matters that affect their well being and the well being of their families.

11. very well said, and very sad, cause the only way anything will
come of this will be AFTER the fact

meaning AFTER he's stolen another election, or AFTER other things have combined to make the craven herd finally do some JOURNALISM on this

by then, it won't matter, which is what I hope happens

meanwhile, the press ignores Plame, Edmonds, Abu Ghraib child torture, to name just THREE huge stories, any of which would do the Lusitania on the junta

12. How the hell do you think they can find the time to cover all that
irrelevant stuff in between, commercials, bullshit talking head comments about "shove it", length of speech, no bounce in the polls, Kerry's unearned purple heart, terror alerts, Colby, Peterson, Michael, blah, blah, blah. Sorry no time left to talk about the fact that dimson was AWOL or maybe even a deserter. If Clinton had done this...Monica might even have taken a close second place.

Why should a journalist do an investigative story that takes hard work...when they can just report what Drudge or The Inquire have to say?
