Why is Ridge retiring?
Is he tired of telling lies?

5. It could be!
Did you ever notice the look on Ridge's face when he's giving one of those "terra" alerts? He looks shell-shocked ... like a guy who can't believe he threw away his entire political career for his "friend" GW Bush!

7. Again?
In lew of today's warning, I thought this animation is appropriate. This came out a few weeks ago, by the way.

9. In an article I read about this rumor,
it said Ridge has a recurring dream about a dirty bomb going off in Miami.

I think both he and Bush are losing it ... together! Maybe they get a group discount on anti-psychotic medication.

14. I have a tinfoil theory

Perhaps, just perhaps...

Ridge was part of the meeting that decided to release todays
"terra" warning, using what he KNEW to be 4 year old data.
And he just didn't want to do this anymore...

So he tells Bush (who hates disloyalty) and Cheney and Ridge decide
that he has to hang on until after the elections and then he gets
the gold watch and the cushy lobbyist job (probably for a Homeland
Security contractor)...

just a guess

15. One of his options is to join
a big Philly law firm where some of his good buddies from his years in PA politics are working. Read that in a southeastern PA paper the other day.

16. Actually I meant to say something like that

you, former government officials (that serve on Source Evaluation
Boards or similar contract selecting authorities) are prohibited
from working for any corporation (winners or losers) that competed
for a contract over which the official had authority... for someone
like Ridge, that's a lot of companies.

BUT, he can always join a law firm which all of a sudden starts to
represent the interests of those same corporations... all without
even becoming a registered lobbyist.

the Baker Botts folks have this down pat.
