Stars & Stripes: Marine from F9/11 being investigated
Marine's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' comments investigated
By Sandra Jontz, Stars and Stripes
European edition, Saturday, July 31, 2004

ARLINGTON, Va. — Comments made by Marine Cpl. Abdul Henderson in Michael Moore’s controversial film “Fahrenheit 9/11” prompted the Marine’s commanders to look into the appropriateness of his film debut.

Henderson, a reservist with the 3rd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company out of Long Beach, Calif., was featured, wearing his service dress Alpha uniform, alongside Moore outside the U.S. Capitol as the pair unsuccessfully solicited legislators to enlist their children into the U.S. military and to fight in the war in Iraq.

At one point, Moore asked the 29-year-old Marine, who served in Iraq last year, whether he’d return to the Middle East to fight again.

Moore: “If you get called up, will you go back to Iraq?”

Henderson: “No.”
Wow. Couldn't see that one coming. :eyes:

2. The whole time I watched that scene, all I could think was...
..."Boy, that guy is in some trouble when his superiors find out about this."

Same with the two Marine recruiters in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

4. Hmmm....
I am sure he was aware of the consequences. And a certain point one must stand for ones beliefs regardless of what might happen. Our lives would be a lot different had it not been for people like Rosa Parks, and Gandhi...

6. According to the article the 2 marine recruiters are not in the same boat
Coincidentally, they didn't voice opposition to the war. They claim they were filmed under false pretenses.

5. Can't do that after you're in the corps
C.O. status means you're against killing. The base presumption of the US military is that if you can countenance some wars for your country you can countenance any war for your country... I suppose on the theory that democracies don't fight wars if the people object.

7. Yes, you can apply for CO status...
since the UCMJ allows for people to change after enlisting.

But, it's an incredibly difficult process, and not one to take lightly. It's not likely one's application would be taken seriously in a case like this. Hardly anyone's application is taken seriously under the best of circumstances.

10. In the last year there have been over 700 people discharged from the
military for being gay. I don't think I'm the first one to think of it! LOL!

Imagine, gayness trumps troop strength issues. What a way to run a war.

14. There WERE improprieties
Dude told the truth.

“It’s the fact that he was wearing the uniform , and they are just determining if there were improprieties related to his role in the movie,” Kerr said.

Fuck them.
