U.S. Oil Hits Record, Nears $44 A Barrel
(Reuters - Singapore) - U.S. oil prices struck a new 21-year peak Monday, climbing close to $44 a barrel after the United States raised its security alert to high for a possible al Qaeda attack on a top financial institution.

3. an old Marine Vet from florida whose computer I fixed
told me that it would hit 48$ a barrel before fall. Then would jump really high. Said he knows because he has been around a while (78 years old)

said that when oil hits $50 a barrel, our economy comes to a screeching halt. I don't think he means a 'slowdown' or 'difficult days ahead'. I believe him when he says it comes to a stop.

Right now, it seems that the Yukos refinery has halted production. This seems to be a government/clandestine in-fighting which is causing the delay.

Meanwhile, the situation in Venezuela continues to be volatile. Of course, we don't need to mention the powderket in Saudi Arabia. How about Iraq? Norway, the most peaceful country imaginable, just settled a labor strike, but tempers are apparently short.

It seems that wherever there's oil, that's where the hotspots are. Meantime, Americans are burning through 21 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY.
(right?)
