Suh-weet!!!

(CBS) Senior administration officials tell CBS News the President’s mistaken claim that Iraq tried to buy uranium from Africa was included in his State of the Union address -- despite objections from the CIA.

Before the speech was delivered, the portions dealing with Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction were checked with the CIA for accuracy, reports CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin.

CIA officials warned members of the President’s National Security Council staff the intelligence was not good enough to make the flat statement Iraq tried to buy uranium from Africa.
<snip>

The fat is in the fuckin' fire!!! Looks like they're going to blame it on Condi. Couldn't happen to a nicer bitch. And she DENIED it ALL! Bye, Condi. You're the first head overboard after all.

Who happen to be huge * supporters :puke:. Can't wait to hear what they have to say about it. I am sure I will get the same "It doesn't matter, Saddam was the biggest threat to the world, and at least * didn't lie about a blowjob" line like I constantly hear.

I'm happy to see that as the headline though. Hopefully something will come out of it!

It all depends on what your definition of a lie is. You may say Bush did not lie because he said that the British had evidence or if you think he lied because he knew the evidince to be false.

12. Notice how they fudged the issue though
“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa,” Mr. Bush said

If it ever comes down to impeachment or anything like that, they can use the "technically he didn't lie'" defence. Despite that it is obvious he was lying and I hope to God everyone hammers him over and over on this.

they knew that the British info was based on the same BS forged documents (and nothing else, Tony Blair's ridiculous assertions to the contrary) that the CIA was objecting to. This will be seen as it is, a too clever by half dodge of responsibility.

David Martin led the show with an EXCLUSIVE that said - in no uncertain terms - that the Bush White House DELIBERATELY chose the phrase "According to British Intelligence" for the explicit and sole purpose of denying PERSONAL responsibility - should they get caught!!! It was totally samning, completely clear that they used this phrase JUST TO BLAME THE BRITISH if they got caught! Am I the only person who watched this tonight???

this was STILL a false statement:

“The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa,” Mr. Bush said.

The British government had actually learned no such thing, and Bush knew that.

they spent agreat deal of time on this. They pointed out that crediting this to Brittish intelligence in the Scam Of The Union Address probably meant the CIA had warned them that it was not kosher info, thus a built in disclaimer.
I thought ABC hit pretty hard tonight.

70. Screen shot
Look on your keyboard, up and to the right and you will see the key: *Prt Sc SysRq*. When you hit that key, it saves whatever is on your screen at the time to your clipboard. If you have a graphic program, you can paste it from your clipboard into your program. Name it, save it to your hard drive, the upload it to a server.

Are those BEAUTIFUL words, or what!

...called ScreenSeize that PC Magazine posted a number of years ago. I don't know if you can still get it, but I have a copy that I can send to you if you'd like. It's WAY better than the Windows utility. And it doesn't "install" so it doesn't write anything to your registry in case you have problems with it.

Sorry, he's not going to get much mileage with that as well:

CIA Asked Britain To Drop Iraq Claim
Advice on Alleged Uranium Buy Was Refused

The CIA tried unsuccessfully in early September 2002 to persuade the British government to drop from an official intelligence paper a reference to Iraqi attempts to buy uranium in Africa that President Bush included in his State of the Union address four months later, senior Bush administration officials said yesterday.

"We consulted about the paper and recommended against using that material," a senior administration official familiar with the intelligence program said. The British government rejected the U.S. suggestion, saying it had separate intelligence unavailable to the United States.

60. I just realized I have a nice new way to use some old bumper stickers!
Those old "Bush Knew" ones that - at the time, MAINLY applied to bush's foreknowledge of 9/11. NOW, look what they apply to!

Whee!

Time to revisit the John Dean article in findlaw.com - the one that said words to the effect of - "if bush led this country to war under false pretenses, he is toast." I don't remember the exact wording of the first part, but I HAVE NOT forgotten the "he is toast" part.

Getting interestinger and interestinger - to rip off Lewis Carroll.

Wasn't she treated like a pariah because of those words?

Other scandals - Enron, Harken, CA energy crisis, Cheney Energy Task Force have been quietly pushed aside - but this one involves direct life and death consequences.

75. This is not a "Liberal media" thing
This is cold, hard, factual news. No politics are necessary. Bush lied, he knew he lied, he lied about the lie, and he continues to lie about lying that he lied. It's entirely on his head. There's no need to label the media, they're just finally reporting the news.

83. Be sure and write CBS to thank them
It's imperative they get plenty of good feedback for their decision to finally expose Bush's illegally pre-emptive war on a country that never threatened us. Here's their feedback address:

85. CIA Doubted Uranium Report
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-usintel0711,0,5728369.story?coll=ny-nationalnews-headlines
(snip)
The CIA "from day one" was highly skeptical of reports that Iraq had been shopping for uranium ore in Africa, and the State Department also was highly suspicious, according to intelligence officials.
(snip)
The intelligence official said that the CIA could have done a better job of conveying to policymakers, including the White House, its skepticism about Iraq shopping for uranium ore. "We probably didn't convey it well enough for them to understand it," he said. "We probably should have smacked them between the eyes."
---------------------

A tamer story line but it is getting out there. This story makes it look like the regime was just incompetent, but either way it looks bad.

Loved that last part "We probably should have smacked them between the eyes"

Sonia

87. Sheer Arrogant Behavior, born of disdain for the truth and obsession for
power and re election at any cost.

Bush: OK guys, how do I continue to look good?

staff: do the Wag Dog thing

Bush: Huh?

Staff: create a war, a new one. Since we can't find Osama, we go after Saddam

Bush: How we do that?

Staff: easy, we find reasons to get the bad guy, free the people, we look like heros

and so it went......
