Obituary backs 'removal of Bush'
Woman 'thought he was a liar'

By Lee Sensenbrenner
August 21, 2003
-snip-
My uncle asked if there was a cause," her youngest son, Pete Baron, said.

Almost in unison, what her children decided to include in the obituary was this: "Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush."

"She thought he was a liar," Baron's daughter, Maureen Bettilyon, said. "I think his personality, just standing there with that smirk on his face, and acting like he's this holy Christian, that's what really got her."
-snip-

"She'd always watch CNN, C-SPAN, and you know, she'd just swear at the TV and say 'Oh, Bush, he's such a whistle ass!' She'd just get so mad," Bettilyon said.

What a great woman she must have been - and what a gutsy family.

9. Here's some hilariously pathetic local coverage
http://www.katu.com/news/blogger.asp#106149385876184698

From the Minute-by-minute coverage of President's visit:

"Strong odor of marijuana observed at protest scene
12:24 PM

A KATU News photographer near the scene at Willamette Blvd. and Portsmouth where protesters are assembled reports that there is a strong odor of marijuana in the crowd. Police in riot gear have also doubled their presence outside the center where the president is addressing supporters."

That's just plain pathetic reporting.

22. It was some belly dancers burning 100% LEGAL SAGE
Bundles of burning sage is a common aboriginal method of banishing misfortune and evil spirits.

There were truly beautiful people at the protest.

13. "Whistle ass" is good. Glad it made the epitaph
I think I'll call Bush "Exxon disaster" when my turn comes. Everything about this administration is greasy.

is the riot gear standard police equipment during a protest? They look extremely menacing....

20. Yes, it is
Just got back. One of the favorite chants was, "We don't see no riot here, take off all that stupid gear!"

The estimate of 250 is utter Bushit and an underestimate by a factor of 20.

23. Way to go!
Thank you for being there. Were you able to get anywhere near where *he was? or *his passing motorcade?

Love the "We don't see no riot here, take off all that stupid gear!" chant!

CNN still saying 250. Maybe someone should send them some pics.

27. You got that exactly right!
SOP for dealing with "mainstream" media crowd counts at anti-Bush events - double their numbers, then multiply by 10.

You'll end up with a decent indication of who turned out.

21. Yep, 100% standard
Among the things we have become used to from Portland robocops:

* body armor and gas masks
* concealed badge numbers
* tear gas
* rubber-coated metal pellets
* "beanbag" shotguns
* random pepper spraying
* police loudspeakers giving conflicting instructions for dispersal
* plastic "cuffs" that are notorious for cutting off circulation
* weak citizen oversight boards

25. Chimpy's pleased that there are police on horseback used to guard him.
He's going on about how mounted police are so cool. The Chimp has no clue that he is underscoring the fact that they're keeping the masses of protesters away from his dumbass.
