that he'd read John Edwards speech earlier today and thought "eh, it's nice" but once Edwards started speaking, he (Shaeffer) could see why this man could convince a jury. He said that John Edwards can give a speech and it was mezmerizing (my paraphrase)

I burst into tears when he talked about the time and place for conversations about racial equality. This is One America, our America.
