1. I apologize to those DUers who are religious
but I am an atheist, so voted yes that is should be removed.
I believe in complete separation of church and state.

2. Keep in mind...
...that you don't have to be an atheist to support the separation of church and state.

6. People who are not atheist should support seperation of
church & state at least as strongly as atheist.
If the state gets to pick a religion, it probably won't be yours.
I don't want anyone forcing their religion on me even if it they claim to also be Christian, because alot of them don't believe anything like I believe.

9. Don't Look
If that poll bothers you, don't look at the one on Fox! It's over 86% for it staying, and my guess is that this poll is probably more accurate of the public in general!

10. One of the problems
One of the problem with thinking on the 10 Commandments monument is that a substantial number of people who *think* they support separation of church and state see the 10 Commandments as some sort of pan-ethnic code of conduct. Sort of an icon of the rules societies need if they're to work at all.

These people can't back up far enough from their own Christian upbringing to see how foreign most of the Commandments look to anyone without a Christian upbringing. Or someone who doesn't believe in a higher power at all.
