An intelligent, inspiring, strong woman... I'm sure she gives them a bad case of the willies!

2. Repubs Don't Like Strong Women
they prefer Stepford wife arm candy like Laura.

They are afraid, very afraid, of women with "opinions". Women should be in the kitchen fixin' supper not on the convention floor.

5. No surprise
I thought she stuck it right to them with her comments about women being able to think and have opinions (even though it gets them labeled "opinionated" instead of "informed")

As a man I find that attitude among RWers particularly disgusting.

Now that would just rule! bwahahahaha... But what would they debate about? Maybe they could contrast their credentials... Ooooh I'd love to see that.

11. Teresa would talk about something important
while Pickles would go on an on about her efforts to teach children how to read, even though her husband can't make it halfway through On Beyond Zebra without getting a migrane.

12. I thought so too!
I mean... it's enough that she's brilliant and not afraid to speak her mind... but she's the whole package! All that and beauty too... perhaps hers comes not only from the bones God gave her but also from inside... from her realization of her connection to others, and willingness to use her good fortune to help others.

I love her!

13. Last night the Freepers were trashing little Ilana Wexler
-- the little girl who was the Kids for Kerry spokesperson on the convention last night.

They called her ugly, and insinuated Clinton was probably dating her.

Freepers start with the misogyny EARLY, huh?

16. hence the term "FreeTards"
Although, it really is an insult to the developmentally disabled. I worked with DD teens for five years and can honstely say that I would never, seriously compare a freeper to them. First of all, the DD kids with whom I worked were good hearted and kind. Secondly, the collective intellect of all the freepers on the planet don't add up to that of the lowest functioning downie.

and that she turned them down to run for
her late husband's office when they asked
her (she was a registered Republican)

17. Joe Conason has this nailed...
Edited on Wed Jul-28-04 10:40 AM by johnfunk
... right here. Richard Scaife, the drunken Yale washout turned rich conspiracy nut, is once again the nexus for lies and hatred, this time directed against a Vietnam war hero and his savvy, accomplished wfie.

To amplify one of Joe's points, here's how it works:

Introverted political wife --
Republican: "perfectly poised"
Democrat: "overly scripted"

Extroverted political wife --
Republican: "refreshingly candid"
Democrat: "out of control"

Now see how easy that is, kids?

POSTSCRIPT: More Conason --

"Who's in charge of keeping her on message?" demanded David Broder of The Washington Post.

The real question is, "Who's in charge of keeping David Broder on message?"

ON EDIT: fix punctuation and line break.

Just as I was scrolling southbound, the exact same thought occurred to me, after reading about the little 13 yr old. Any affirmation written or spoken (about anyone) appears to have an auto-generated response.

I think right wingers have a software program most likely called, what else,..."hardware." They type a sentence into a search engine, any word sensitive adjectives are automatically thesaurused into the most vile, disgusting antonyms..

typo..

26. Theyre scared
They are scared of strong women, successful blacks, drug users that don't steal, gay people that don't hide, anyone with an original thought, and anyone that has the brains to question what they are told by the powers that be.

Right wingers are right wingers because they are scared. It's all about fear for them. Fear that they can't compete with immigrants for jobs, fear that they can't compete with blacks for 'cool', fear they can't compete with gays for compassion, fear that their own failings will be uncovered if they pause, even for a moment, from pointing fingers and blaming others for their own incompetency.

Fear sells, and the republicans are buying.

You hit the nail on the head with that one, friend!

How many times have I been told, 'but those minorities will take over and treat us unfairly!' or some other such BS.

Sad.

You KNOW that in a board room meeting she must be very assertive. She takes to leadership like a fish to water.
