She staked her reputation on it at a meeting of the Utah Democratic Party.

1. yeah the signs are pointing that way.
He is starting to act more and more like a candidate, with those media appearances.

9. He's on TV every other day. Tomorrow he will be on Hannity and
Colmes. I'm setting my VCR this time. I hope General Clark gives Hannity some of what he gave Scarborough the other night.

12. That's the great thing about Clark
He can go anywhere anytime and make any neo-con look like a complete moron. PERIOD.

There really aren't any other candidates who can do that.

17. Thanks for the heads up. Love when people give Hannity what for.
Isn't Hannity the high school dropout? Or is that Rush?

2. Good news
I'm excited about his candidacy. I think he'll destroy Smirk on foreign policy and leave the numbnuts barenaked for all to see.

5. No
She wasn't talking as anybody's spokesperson, but as a Democratic Party honcho. Not sure if she's close to the Clark people or not.

6. it's not a good sign
when on the most basic of questions, the public has to play guessing games as to the prospective candidate's positions.

don't people care anymore about straight answers? why in the world are so many people going bananas over a man who can't give a simple yes or no answer to the questions, "are you running?" and "are you a democrat?"

Clark's steadfast refusal to give a straight answer, smacks of Bush I's "read my lips". i hate it. i resent the arrogance and the lack of respect for the people, that underlie Clark's behavior. even Ari Fleischer couldn't get away with Clark's kind of non-answers. can you imagine what a Clark presidential press conference would be like?

Q: Will you consult the security council before going to war?
A: Well, I'm not going to consult the insecurity council!

Q: Any reaction to the NE power blackout?
A: I'll let you know by labor day.

Clark is no more qualified to be president, than Arnold Schwarzenegger is to be governor of CA.

7. Intolerance of ambiguity is a conservative characteristic.
This is pure and simple strategy - this is a play right out of campaigning 101. There's even a name for this tactic (can't remember what it's called). Clark is taking the chance on alienating a few hardcore conservatives (those dems who can't deal with the is he or isn't he question - see subject line) in our party for a greater gain down the road. We've been over why he's doing this time and time again. I won't rehash it here.

8. ambiguity is a dishonest strategy, often used by conservatives
There's even a name for this tactic (can't remember what it's called).

it's called "dishonesty". just like "read my lips" from Bush I. it sucked when Bush I did it, and it still sucks when a primadonna general does it.

16. Yeah, there's never been a General president before.
Certainly not those unqualified guys Washington, Grant, and Eisenhower. For starters. Not to mention Theodore Roosevelt, etc.

Clark, as a man who has met and negotiated sensitive foreign issues with international heads of states in the course of his job, is infinitely more qualified than an actor, and you know that as well as I do.

Also, the questions Clark is being 'ambiguous' with are of a personal nature about his political plans--not questions regarding issues or policy.
