So now Bush wants dog owners in Oregon to hate him
I got email from a friend who does a sport called Agility with her dog. Seems she is going to an 4 day long agility event in Central Point, Oregon, at the end of this month. It's taking place at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. From what she tells me there's all this equipment that has to be set up the day before (Thursday).

But because Bush decided he can tramp all over people's rights, including this group's rental agreements with a fairgrounds, this bunch of nice people will have to move their fully paid in advance event.

From what I gather, all sorts of people who never gave politics much thought are furious with Bush and his blindly ran over their rights ("Yes it's different when it's your rights isn't it," I said).

My friend says, "Well I wasn't going to vote at all, but now I'm voting all Democrat, and a whole bunch of people are doing the same. What a putz!"

Hey, way to go Oregon Republicans. You just lost a lot of dog owners votes and push a bunch of people to Kerry.

21. Well, maybe not...
but it's not any worse than fundamentalist Christians voting for Bush because they believe he's 'a man of god' or because 'he's stupid, just like me'. Or for anyone making under a million voting for him, for that matter. Yes, I know a few such people personally. Clearly they haven't been keeping up on things, but that doesn't matter.

Frankly, I don't care what it takes for people to wake up and realize that Bush is an asshole, as long as they wake up and vote!

25. You missed the point about Bush's stupidity
Like many other voters (50% of the public?) some of these are people who just haven't thought about politics because it didn't seem to gore their ox in any way.

These are the voters who just haven't thought about what a Bush presidency really means. And what does Bush do? He finally finds a way to wake them up. Because their dogs and their events are as important to them as making money, and taking power, is to Rethugs.

Sure, it's just the dogs right now, but it's going to lead to some great conversations that weekend.

"So you think it's just this one incident that shows Bush contempt for the people of the US. Well, let me tell you about {{this}} and {{this}} and {{this}}."

Bush has opened a small crack in their sleeping mind, and I will be taking full advantage.

Again, thank you Oregon Rethugs and Bush.

29. A couple of weeks ago, the Sheltie-list I was on turned into a political
hate fest, with one person urging others to not vote for Kerry due to his stance on euthanasia. Funny how I bet this deleted guy would be all for that. ;)

Maybe when our children is learning... as in when there "was Shelties" and "was sinister guys". They seem to be cut from the same mould, n'est-ce pas?

12. Could it be that the people in charge of these fairgrounds........
made some sort of error and double booked the grounds?

I doubt Bush's handlers called them up at the last minute to take the place over.....generally these sorts of things are worked out far in advance to give time for the security folks to make sure it's safe.

19. No, things are done quickly
So that there's less of a chance for a security breach. They don't want anybody having the time to plan. I've heard from local Kerry campaigns all over the country that events were put together in just a few days. More likely the fairgrounds people decided the President was more important than a dog show and that the dog show people would happily accommodate the President. They didn't understand that Bush just isn't the people's President.

26. Bush is visiting Central Point, Friday July 30, at Jackson County FGs
It is last minute planning and the fairground owners should be ashamed.

One of the reasons it's going to be hard on the people and the dogs is that it's hot in Oregon this time of year and the big building they use stays cool. So all these dogs and people are going to be forced outdoors instead (under some kind of cover).

The poor Shelties. :(

22. What exactly is happening at the fairgrounds in CP?
I know Central Point. It's a cute little town in Central Oregon. They have a county fair which is really nice.

From what I gathered, it looks like BeetleBrain is going to make an appearance at the fairgrounds, and he ousted a group which made plans to meet there first.

Which again shows what an ass he is. You just don't blatantly jerk local people around like that. And then expect to get votes!?!?!?!? Can you just visualize this? "My Dear, lovely people from Central Point: Vote For Me. Oh, and you Dog owners too. Vote for me". I offer you nothing because I'm a brain-damaged psychopath. But my caretakers have told me to ask for your vote. So vote"

This sounds just like BrainTrust's begging for the black vote this week. What a waste of time.

They should set up the equipment indoors anyways, and see if they can get Bush to run the course. I bet he gets stuck in the tunnel.

It's like the Republican hunters and fisherman who thought Bush was just "hunky-dory" until he started drilling on THEIR land. Now they're up in arms.

41. It may be the Rep part of Oregon
what they didn't take into account, is that agility events pull in people from all over the state, and other states. People who have traveled long distances and paid good money (and in this bad economy it's very hard earned and dearly spent).

The Rethugs have very much "screwed the pooch"

if they were counting on this event to bring in revenue. He really shouldn't upset people in a part of the state that he's counting on for votes.

45. I'm not sure if people can cancel
The event is closed (all events have a deadline for entering). And it's hard to cancel. So everyone will have their reservations made, including the people camping at the fairgrounds.

I'm wondering what the Secret Service will do to the people camping at the fairgrounds? Will they be forced to leave the grounds, or forced to stay in their trailers/tents?

They've been told not to joke or kid around because the Secret Service has no humor. Never mind they are, again, paying to be at this event.

I heard people are being told not to bring certain items, like guns. I'm not sure what that is about. Maybe there are people who go hunting before or after the event? Or some people doing agility bring their spouses or friends along, and those people do other things during the day, like going hunting.

I wonder if the NRA knows about this infringement of gun rights.

42. Shrub doesn't realize how wrong it is to pi** off dog owners!
If this gets National attention, shrub will soon find out!

A few weeks ago, the muscle lump (Arnold) found out. He proposed reducing the # of days an animal was kept in a shelter from 6 down to 3, at which time they would be euthanized. This was one of his ways to save money. When that hit the papers, his office was deluged with calls, and emails from all over the country. It took about 3 hours for the Arnold to change his mind.

Most dog lovers are pretty laid back easy going people, but there are LOTS OF THEM, and you really don't want to pi** them off!

44. This is priceless.....WTF does Rove know about those black boxes
that they will save the shrub from becoming a burning bush come Nov.??

It seems EVERYWHERE bush goes, where there are actual CITIZENS, he comes to be hated more and more.

He screws up MLK memorial day ceremonies in Georgia, lays a wreath, then goes and cuts programs that benefit the African American community...within a day or two!!! Thousands express outrage.

He meets w/ vets, gets his photo op, then w/in a day or two, cuts veterans benefits! Thousands express outrage.

He goes to Iraq on Thanksgiving, serves up a plastic turkey to a bunch of hand-picked GI's, makes the rest of the mob eat rations! Thousands of soldiers and their families express outrage.

He goes to Daytona, ties up NASCAR-going traffic, has his entourage take a photo-op "victory lap" before the race, delaying the pre-race excitement. Thousands express outrage (and "boo"s come from the crowd).

Now, the Sheltie folks get the shaft! And there are gobs of examples of this same behavior that I've read on DU through the years, that I can't even recall right now.

And yet....rove is letting this happen once again! They DON'T APPEAR TO BE WORRIED about the votes of these thousands and thousands of citizens. Rove knows pre-programmed/hackable computers, and crooked vote machine manufacturers, will take care of it for him.

If we had a REAL, HONEST vote count in this country, I have no doubt whatsoever that Kerry would win with a good 60% of the vote. But that's not the story we're ever going to have the opportunity to hear about. Especially not with millions of disenfranchised African American voters.

This whole picture is soooo broken. Bush is the asshole of the world.

:kick::kick::kick:
