2. I do not think this is Boston as I think SS is doing the plans.
Most likely Homeland also.

3. I don't like it either, but...
I do think it's a necessary evil for the convention. I said this in another thread, and I'll probably get a good charring on this one, but I'll try to explain my reasoning.

Put aside that we have been castigating Bush for having them set up miles away at all of his appearances throughout his administration. This is the point at which not just liberals, but moderates will be watching us. The tinfoil hat says that NOT having one would be an open invitation for extremist to do something like set a bomb under a bench a la the Olympics.

If that were to happen, the Bush crowd would be all over it saying Kerry can't handle security, Kerry didn't allow them and has blood on his hands, blah blah blah ad nauseum. And we've all been hearing from the administration about the terra-ists wanting to attack. They'ld be sure to give Bush the credit for trying to do everything he could. :eyes:

Granted, an extremist can still do something and cause great harm and possibly death. But, all precautions taken, it would show we truly aren't any safer under Bush.

5. Liburi I think you are way off base.
No amount of totalitarian police state tactics will make you secure.
The only people that are willing to get herded into these things are peaceful protesters.
Anyone wanting to cause trouble will not go in there. They will dress like one of the sheep and hide in the flock.

You seem willing to turn this country into a police state like Israel or Saudi Arabia. They have non stop terrorist attacks IT DOESNT WORK.

6. That's the point.
You're absolutely right that the totalitarian tactic won't work. And no, I'm not willing to turn it over.

But consider if there were none. Would you put it past Rove and the BFEE to make something happen then start spinning the security differences? Yes, the people who follow the rules will go in there. Nothing will happen. And nothing happening will be 'no news'. Something happening, especially something bad, will be big news and Kerry would be to blame.

4. Scotus or the SS can go cheney themselves. The pen in boston must go.
Kerry needs to come out strongly against the "free speech" pen.
This should be a defining issue between the Bush neo-nazi junta and every free american.

JK should walk into Boston and say "TEAR DOWN THESE FENCES, IN MY AMERICA WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH".

I have a really big problem with him if he is going along with this blatant totalitarianism.

I remember when Clinton was here speaking. There was a small crowd of protesters allowed to stand across the street from the entrance, well within sight, no pens, no around the block behind a building. Just a line of police tape to keep them out of traffic. They were allowed to protest with dignity. That WAS America then, It all changed with BUSH.

This was CREATED BY BUSHCO. They started it in TEXAS.

Have there been pens at Kerry rallies? Eyewitness accounts appreciated.
If there are I have a VERY big problem with it.
