The more you learn, the more disgusted you get...
if you are "represented" by a repuke in your state (your state's legislature), have you ever really read their voting record in great detail?

I did, today. I was volunteering for the Dem running against him. OMG. I nearly gagged. I KNEW this guy was bad, but I kept saying to myself WTF?!?!?! as I read it. And it only represented a small percentage of his fine work (ug) in Austin.

Here's a sampler:

He voted to stop debate on a house bill that would have made health insurance companies that offer coverage for Viagra also offer coverage for contraception. He voted FOR a bill that will tell poor people in this state about prenatal health care options but the bill restricts state health organizations from telling the poor about abortion.

He voted for low-level nuclear waste to be placed whereever the hell the company wanted to place it. He always sides with big corporations when it comes to the kind who pollute our air.

He calls his opponent (the one I am volunteering for) an "environmental extremist" because she wants to work for clean air and water for this district. He calls her "anti-business" because she isn't beholden to any big corporations, like he is. He owns a gun store and a training facility and range and proposed a bill that would extend Texas' concealed carry law into SCHOOLS. That's right, guys, you would be able to carry a concealed gun into an elementary school and not have to tell anyone about it.

WTF???? Honestly, he seems anti-HUMAN. He voted for more stringent prosecution for anyone labeled an "environmental terrorist" (what the HELL is that???).

He voted against teachers being given five days of personal leave a year instead of two. He voted against letting parents who are employed with the same employer for 12 months have one day per school year to meet with their child's teacher at the school's request. ONE FREAKING DAY A YEAR that wouldn't be docked as sick pay or something, and he voted against it.

He voted against a new anti-discrimination policy (that ended up passing, thank goodness) that said that no state public education institution could discriminate against a child or his/her parents for all the usual stuff, but they added "gender identity" and "sexuality" and of course, he voted against it for that.

WTF??

Seriously, what the HELL is wrong with brain-dead bastages like this? I could go on and on about his voting record but won't. My blood pressure is up about 20 points, I'm sure.

Oh one last thing....he got Christian Lawmaker of the Year from the Christian Coalition.

Guess what? He just moved in with his 26 year old girlfriend and is still married to his 53 year old wife. He does nothing for the poor of this state. But he got Christian Lawmaker of the Year because he doesn't want poor people to have access to abortions or even information on abortions.

Yeah, we got our priorities straight down here, ya'll! I'm telling ya, not only is bush going to hit the door this November, but so is my TX rep. Uh-huh. That just made me more determined than ever to get all these assholes GONE.

6. His name is Ray Allen
and he "represents" district 106 in Texas. His challenger is Katy Hubener, Democrat and "environmental extremist"--you know, wants us to be able to BREATHE and all.

Harumph. Bastage.

7. Here he is
by the way:

http://www.house.state.tx.us/members/dist106/allen.htm

And for the first post on this thread, I don't know how she got it. I was at her house, doing some work for her (they got office space donated today, though).

She is in favor of open voting in TX, which we don't currently have. She had some researchers do some heavy digging to get what she got, which is a big fat 3" binder full.

8. I have
3 of them and I know what you mean. It is sickening and of course very frustrating. We are working on Kansas but it is pretty dismal. Probably a lot like Texas.

10. HE OWNS A GUN STORE?
and he's voting on legislation about who can carry guns?

Sounds like a major conflict of interest to me.

You should call your local paper.

13. Houston reporting (inside the loop)
My state senator is Mario Gallegos & rep is Jessica Cristina Farrar, both Democrats. I thought I liked them & am now sure.

The site doesn't show their voting records, but their positions on various issues are listed. Both for Choice, against the Death Penalty. For taxing the people who need it. For education (but no vouchers).

And my US Rep is Ms. Sheila Jackson Lee.

Take that, suburbia.
