Was Congress rep, quit in 2000 to run for Senate, lost to Bill Nelson (very close election). Now trying to take Bob Graham's seat.

What is interesting is, one of the Republican candidates (primary) is Mel Martinez (former Orange County commissioner, former HUD Chair). Now, some Republicans don't want Martinez to run because he used to be a trial lawyer, and of course, if Martinez is in the race the GOP can't so easily eviscerate Edwards for holding the profession.
