2. dude... that was my skull... i'm so wasted....
seriously... the only way that will ever happen is if a free thinking president gets into office and knowingly decides on his last day to issue a presidental order making it legal...

the govt' brings in billions a year in financing for it, they spend billions to pay for all the jails, officers, court systems, etc... where would all that money go? oh... twinkes! i get it!

i think it will be very interesting to see what happens in canada... if our good neighbors to the north (and god knows BC is a great place ;) ), keep moving towards making it legal, then hopefully it will only be a matter of time...

this country continues to blow billions of dollars lineing the govt pockets each year to fight it, they only thing we have to gain is a society free of the big drug companies quest to make a pill for everything... natural treatments will be the wave of the future!

3. Yes to most of what you said...

But I think the point of the original post was that WE should start using the Republican-Focus Group- Buzzwords that co-opt an argument in soundbite form. Like "Deregulate", "Late Term Abortion", "Death Tax", "Free Trade", etc. In other words, they paid for them (the buzzwords), let us steal them in making our arguments.

If that ISN'T the intent of the original post, I'm sorry I gave it so much credit! :-)

Welcome to DU, by the way...

4. yes thank you
and if Arnold gets in, will he pardon all marijuana offenders in California jails and prisons?. To do otherwise would be hypocritical. Oh, that's Right , he's running as a Repugnant

5. When Chimpy McBunnyPants was Gov of Texas
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 03:00 PM by nuxvomica
He signed a mandatory minimum sentencing bill for cocaine possession that had it been in place when whe was snorting lines, and he were caught, and charges were filed, and Poppy couldn't buy off the judge, he'd still be in the slammer today.

edit: So, yes, it would be nearly Chimpy-level hypocrisy for Ahnuld to do otherwise.

7. Privatize the FDA
Hey thanks for the replies, I'm a newbie, pretty much.

To the Dean supporter: Currently your boy has set himself up well on the weed subject,....he says he is against it, but he always adds, that he is willing to let the facts determine his decision. My guess is that a few months into a Dean presidency he would begin a new study on the effects of marijuana and then follow that up with a proposal to de-regulate marijuana laws

But my bigger point is the idea of co-opting the conservatarians buzz-words

i'm going to try and get a post going that would ask the DUers to come up with some ideas along this theme, my guess is it would be hilarious and,..possibly provide some great new PR lines of our own.

look for a new post on this subject soon
